Keep in mind that while certain other characters might refer to V as being male or female, that simply reveals their perception.not the actual reality of the situation.

2) V was apparently originally male, but became androgynous when people got confused.

As has been officially posted, any character's assessment of V's sex is merely that of the character at that time. It is not binding on V in particular, and not even on that character at a different time.

On which point Origen When Roy interviews V, he is unable to determine his/her sex and punts on the point.

Well, what timeframe are we talking about here, within the last month, last year? Last Century? since the Last time we went out to that good italian resturant, you know, the one next door to the florists with that nice patio and the really good lasagne, I forget its name? Since the last comic was posted? please be more specific.

To be fair, Roy doesn't seem like the kind of person that would call V V-Man unless he knew V was a man.

To be fairer, OtOoPCs proves that, no, Roy doesn't know V's gender, and his expression in this comic (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0123.html) proves that he hasn't ruled out the idea of V being female.

Sure he does. He perceives V as a male, and seeing as Vaar doesn't care what other species believe it's understandable.
Vaar is all powerful. While Roy may not be sexist it's still a trait alot of guys have. If I say my friend Alex is a weight lifting champion most people will think guy, whereas Alex can just as easily be a she.

As for that linked comic I don't see how he's open to it. He doesn't ask for a room specifically for Hayley and Vaar, just 2 rooms.
and he doesn't press his ear to the wall or even smile during the exchange.
