I recently got my hands on the PC RPG Arcanum. Wiki link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcanum:_Of_Steamworks_and_Magick_Obscura). I really like the game and setting and was wondering if there is a tabletop system based on it. Or any kind of steampunk system really. Magic can always be added in.

Hmm, the only one I'm familiar with is Spirit of the Century, and it's more in the style of Indiana Jones, seeing that it takes place in 1920s.

There's really only two choices. GURPS (Best choice), or the PnP SPECIAL system (Yes, the fallout one), refluffed to work.

Try Unhallowed Metropolis (http://newdarkage.net/synopsis.html). It's got a strong horror overtone, which Arcanum doesn't, but is solidly built and tasty.

Mmmm, so tasty.

I don't think you can get more Steampunk than theIron Kingdoms (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Kingdoms)...

Iron Kingdoms is the best campaign setting ever, IMO. The books are hard to get a hold of these days, but they're well worth the cost.

I wish there was a PnP Arcanum RPG. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I've been tempted to go into the game engine and rip the rules from that, but that would be a pain.

Iron Kingdoms does sound like a good idea. In Arcanum magic and technology are at odds, unlike Iron Kingdoms in which they compliment each other. It seems that changing IK so that magic and technology don't work together wouldn't make the rest of the setting make a whole lot of sense.

I'm tempted too, only I don't know how. Just from playing it I imagine most of the rules could transfer smoothly into a PnP format since some things seem to hinge on things like percentage rolls and skill checks.

Ooo, this would be a fun idea. I'd totally expand on the spells though (and get rid of some of the evil glitches with them), and possibly make more things you could use...

It might just be worth taking from the game engine.
