Well, I used inkscape for the first time a few days ago, and, as you can see by my avatar, I'm bad at it. I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience they could give me to make better ones?

Try using Trazoi's guide. (http://trazoi.net/tutorials/inkscape/oots/)
It should teach you what you need to know.

Thanks, I will check that out.

Let me know how it goes! I'm planning on review the tutorial in a month or two when I've got some spare time lined up.

I really liked the guide, also if you are not that interested in drawing OotS style figures.

The guide taught me everything I needed to know to get started.
You're Trazoi-sensei! All bow to Trazoi-sensei!

The Doge of Inkscape!
Did you mean Doge as in a venitian ruler? Or Dojo as in a location where people are trained?

Another thread seemingly singing the praise of Inkscape (or Trazoi anyway), excuse me while I spray a little against Nameless preemptively. He's known to turn up in Inkscape related threads. (heh)

Anyway, I think the avatar is great for a first try Killersquid. Just read Trazoi's guide, it should show you the ropes proper.

I love your guide, and I'm very happy you made it. Before I was completely befuddled when I tried to make OOTS avatars. But now I have a grasp on how to create them, and with a little practice, I feel like I can get better and better.
Thank you.

If you need help making perfectly square/circle shapes, you can use the selecter tool and set the width and height to the same. Also, USE LAYERS. That's my advice :D

An easier way to make perfect squares and circle is to hold ctrl when you're drawing them. Use layers as Tired and Drowzy said, it makes it easier.

I do that too, but when you're making avatars and comics with repetition, sometimes I rush :D

Should edit that picture and add: "Ceci n'est pas une WIN" under it.
