Something that I thought would make an interesting thread would be to talk about some of the weirder dice everyone's seen. And I don't mean d100s or those d10s with tens digits written on them, I mean stuff like this:
http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/8959/0a131fp1.jpg
They're "double dice". Basically, a hollow clear d12 with another d12 inside of it. It'd make more sense for them to be d10s so you'd have an interesting percentile die, but it's still very cool. Anyone else have a weird die to share?

Under risk of rage from the mods, I present the Karma Suta (http://www.rpgshop.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image//k/a/karmasutra.jpg) dice.

That's mighty useless. d12s are useless enough as it is. Find me one thing in D&D that needs two at once.

My friend has the same thing, but with d6s; he actually got a bit of use out of those.

I ordered a Chessex pound of dice recently. While cool, getting 21 d12s was disturbing. And, given how misshapen a few of the dice were, I think they qualify as weird dice. Theres a d10 that looks like someone stabbed it right through the 4 with a pencil.

As for other, random dice I've seen on the net, I've seen pizza dice - essentially you roll to determine what pizza your group orders.

If you could find that exact same thing in d100, I would totally buy it.

Coincidentally, our group met yesterday and there was a dispute on who got the new armor. Someone suggested a roll-off, to which I replied, "Use a d12, they don't get enough attention." :smalltongue:

Actually, looking on eBay, I found this:

Tada! d100!

Also, these triple d6s would be neat for stats:

I actually have the double d10. It doesn't roll particularly well.

There's a thread like this around here somewhere. The OP of it is like the Guinness World Record holder for most dice or something like that. I can't remember his name and I can't seem to find the thread, but he's got a link to his website that has all kinds of silly dice.

EDIT: Gah, as soon as I post this I find the thread. Here it is (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50601), and the OP is Kevin Cook. His site is here (http://www.dicecollector.com/).

I actually own a blue set of these (the d20 takes forever to stop rolling on a perfectly flat surface, and god forbid it's not level by even a fraction of a degree...). The d6 in particular tends to stay on whatever it lands on, so you have to actually try to make it roll, instead of just dropping it (the d4 and d8 also do this, though less often). I think it was $7 for the whole set, not a bad deal.

I've also seen a normal(-ish) d20 that was no larger than a pea. It was only a little bigger than this smiley:  Oh, one of my friends also used a pair of those big fluffy d6's that you hang from your car's rear-view mirror for his Greatsword damage.

I have a 6 sided die with smiley's.... well not all are smiling, some are angry, some are sad... and I normally use it when a players asked a yes or no question about something...

Also, I have one die for core base classes, one on each side, one for core races, and i have two for alignment... a real quick way to roll up an character...

These are cute, but I can't stand the d20 in action--it's far too annoying to try to read the result on the d20. I don't allow them in my campaign to avoid any of that. So ambiguous, and easily shifted with a nudge. Nice things to have as a gift though.

Well you generally are in a group of adventurers.

Personally rather than "crystal dice", I use the term "suppository dice" for those.
Thats what they look like to me and why i dont want to have them.

in my local fantasy store there they have a single d6 selling for a total of about 15 euros. i was thinking about buying it. It doesnt only work great for fights in the game, but also for those outside.
It about matches a tennis ball in size and about two billiard balls in weight. Great thing to keep the DM in check. Im still pondering wether i should buy it or not.

The "Dice-in-Dice" are neat for novelty's sake, but overall they are a victim of physics, and don't roll all that well.

I'll have to take some pictures of my small collection when I go home. I've got a couple fun ones. Sadly, my oversized 6-sider went missing after using my collection for elementary school math games. I'm still a bit miffed about that one's disappearance.

One of my DMs has a d20 set like this. we tried rolling it once.

after about five minutes of arguing about which face was up, he picked up his 3" radius solid plastic d20 and rolled that one instead.

after threatening to brain us with it. and it's definately solid enough to do at least d4 damage.

I have a pair of d6s with LEDs on the inside that light up when struck (ie, rolling). Also, glow in the dark d6s are wicked sick.

At last we no longer need to depend upon analog dice!

Ah, I've got a d20 just like that that was my souvenir from DragonCon when I went a few years back (2006? 2007?). I don't know how much a Euro is, but I know I paid about $7 USD for it. I'd love it if I could use the thing in a D&D game, but rolling it tends to put dents in tables and on top of that it's a "rolldown" pattern, so you'll probably always rolls really high or really low on it.

Undead Monk//Warblade that did 2d12 damage on natural attacks that had an effectively huge sized Barbarian/Frenzied Berserker protector that dual wielded 2 Greataxe's (one in each hand).

got d12's? Next!

I have a d20, d10 and d6 with the smaller dice in the center. I also have a gelatinous cube mini with little markings on it that my friends let me roll. It isn't the most balanced but I'd like to fix that with some hot led. Best D6 ever.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know where I can find a d43? I need one for my scorpion-tail whip (from Sandstorm). :smalltongue:

I also once found in a flea market a bouncy rubber d20. It's about 6 inches wide, and damn fun to roll. We enjoy tossing it around and watching it bounce around the room.

And yes, it can be done.

I own a set of the crystal dice, and, yes, the d20 is damn annoying. I also have a d100, a d24, and a d30, although those aren't hugely strange. I've got, somewhere, a clear plastic cube the size of an ordinary d6, with a teeny tiny pair of d6's inside.

There is a guy I gamed with (friend of a friend) who had a d20 about 6" diameter, a 3" diameter, also had one that had was normal and two sizes smaller. the really cool thing was that all 5 were the same color and same markings so it was kinda neat to see five dice ranging in size that were otherwise identical. I don't have any really odd dice, my gf has some tiny (from one side to the other maybe 5mm) d6's that are dead lucky. (I couldn't find mine so borrowed hers and rolled 18 17 17 16 15 14 for stats on a character)
I really want to get a set of pewter or stainless steel dice. (I think I'm going to have to get steel, my gf wants pewter)
