I only know the plot, several items may be added or fictionated via my friend but here I go.

Its a world in which there is no fresh water at all, none at all. A while ago some large church began summoning water but now it can no longer be done. The only water sources in the world are at the poles, which were taken under control by some group clan thing and now control most the world.

Since I don't feel like making a topic for this, could somebody help me with my movie?
The movie starts out in a Sci-fi building, a huge one. The people who live there are informed that the rest of the world is way over-polluted, or some catastrophe happened or something, and that they were saved and brought to the station to live. There's something called the lottery, and the person who wins it each week is sent to the only clean island left on earth for a tropical and natural experience. Then, one day the main character finds a butterfly in the station. I'll spoiler the rest of it.
Basically, the main character finds out that the outside world isn't really polluted, and the people who win the lottery are actually killed. Somebody played by Scarlett Johansson, who is the main character's love interest, wins the lottery. The main character tells her the truth, and they both escape outside the facility, avoiding guards and security and the like. They emerge into a desert wasteland. After a while they find out that the people being kept in the facility are clones of people in the real world, being kept for organ replacements or something. The main character meets his clone, is betrayed by the real person, and they fight. The main character wins the fight, somehow with the help of some policemen or guards that he convinces that he is the real one, and then I forget the rest.

The Island? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399201/plotsummary)

Dunno about the first one.

EDIT: Gah! Ninja'd. Also, spoilers on that link.

See also Logan's Run. While not the movie you are looking for, it is the one The Island is based off of.

Yes, that's the one, thanks. I saw it in a hotel and I never caught the title.

Hey, this thread is a good idea, maybe it should be stickied.

Anyhoo, here's one I'm interested in finding again.

A foreign film (German, I think). It's about the teenage daughter of a mob boss, who is assigned a freelance, contracted bodyguard due to threats on her life. She falls in love with her bodyguard, and, despite the considerable age difference, he reciprocates. They try to hide thier affair from her father, but, of course, they are eventually found out (really, what do they expect, leaving naked photos lying around?), and all hell breaks lose. Frankly, the whole threat to her life by a rival mob is really just background to the main story of thier affair and the consequences of such.

What made it stand out among other films with similar themes of extra-generational romance is that it had a happy ending for both of them, rather than having them forcibly separated for whatever reason.

I saw it once on SBS (An Australian channel specialising in foreign content, for a very, very, very simple explanation for non-Awesome, I mean Australian people. ;) ), but unfortunately came in too late to see the beginning, and thus the title.

Tank Girl? :smallsigh:

Isn't that that scary Japanese movie with the girl with the mechanical gun arm or whatever and it has so much violence and fake blood that they've made a ketchup firm somewhere rich?

I tried IMDb searches with "water," "water source," "water summoning," and "water, church, summoning." in the plot section (http://www.imdb.com/Search/plots) and didn't come up with anything. You could try searching more there and it might reveal something...

Sounds a bit like Run Lola Run, it isn't, but it sounds like it. Sorry for not being any help :smallfrown:.

ooh, this does sound familiar. It wasn't an anime was it? With weird dream sequences and at the end a bunch of people get transformed into plants.

I think it was called green something or other. I remember seeing in on SciFi back when they used to run their little Saturday Anime deal in the mornings.

Think you might be mistaken. In Logan's Run, people were being "renewed" to keep the population stable.

I think the movie your looking for is Parts:_The_Clonus_Horror ("http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parts:_The_Clonus_Horror).

Which was used as fodder for MST3K.

No, it's similar, but Parts had the clones believing that they were going to America when they were really going to be freeze dried. No Lottery. When I first saw the previews for 'The Island,' I thought it was a remake of that movie and that it was mildly hilarious that someone would think that a MST3K movie should be remade.

Okay, I need help too. I remember seeing this thriller when I was like ten or twelve. It's about some serial killer, and I think that at some point he goes out on a date with this deaf (and/or blind) girl and then kills her with a nail gun or a drill or something. At the time I thought that was fairly cool.

It might be Russian, but I doubt it.

There's also this movie, I think a recent one, that a friend recommended to me a few weeks ago and, idiot that I am, I promptly forgot the title and everything about it. I think the protagonist starts blowing **** up at some point, or becomes a terrorist, or something like that. He says (either once or repeatedly) something like "I'm going home."

Again, possibly Russian, but again, I doubt it.

That sounds like Falling Down, an old Michael Douglas film though, not new and not too much blown up.
Very good actually, about a 'normal' guy who has enough and goes a bit crazy. See it, even if it isnt the one you wanted ;)

reminds me of an anime i saw. is it set in a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland? with a pressure point-brain exploding hero?
if so, Fist Of The North Star
