I'm torn, there's a few that I like in this lot, but I think I'm going to go for 485 because of the banter between Roy and his dad.

I also go with 485. I know 484 is a wrapper, but for some reason I like its follower more.

I like a lot of these, but the sad finale of 484 gets my vote. It really emphasizes how much everything came apart after the battle.

(I have to admit I got a kick out of the Dragonball Z riff in 485 though. "That last battle took long enough...")

484 because it's absolutely amazing.

Of course 484/485 were epic... but just for the sake of giving it credit I will go for B's 'Okay, elf, enough with the jokes.... - Vaarsuvius?' It's almost cute, hehe...

edit: damn, forgot adding the number  483

482, for the last panel.

485 comes close, but there'll be plenty of sarcasm in the next five comics.

485. Behold the power of funny.

I love 484 a lot, but 485 is just so funny.

I'll go with 485

My vote's for 483

483, mostly for the first panel of each page. You can almost feel Elan's and Haley's longing.

481. Both touching and funny to see Elan threatening the goblins as the ship moves away.

484 coming second.

484 it is. I grant 485 honor, but 484 is the better.

damn it, what should i choose, 482, 484 or 485....
hmmm... ill go with 485.... but 482, and 484 are right behind it....

482 is really funny, 484 got uploaded when I was reading through the comic for the first time, 485 is probably the funniest, but 483 is really emotional, the whole 'End of the battle, ah crap we got owned' feel. So...

483

Tough call, but...

Yeah, 484. Epic ending.

485 is second...two words-"Feather fall".

Reading through I was happily backing 481, until I got to the end, and 485 blew the rest away.

Maybe it is the change of scenery, perhaps it is just good to see Roy again after such a long break. Heck, it could be the change of pace from war story to family banter, but I really liked this strip.

hm... tough. I 483 for its perspectives, as well as 484 and also for the major cliffhanger. However 485 is really funny...
I gotta say 485 because of the perfectly crafted humor:smallbiggrin:

I personally found this batch to be a hard chioce. In the end I go with 482.

Hinjo learns one of the most important lessons of being a ruler: Sometimes you have to put the lives of your people before your own needs.

Besides, the last joke is just perfect. "Plus, don't forget that she does have Belkar with her." - priceless.

Have Fun!

485 For Eugene!

Zed the Sharp

Could have been 483. I like its perspective shots, and Elan's description of dramatic tension ... but I'm going to go with 484, mainly for its "One Day More" (from Les Mis) quality. Also good are Eugene's sarcasm, and the way that Redcloak's question got answered.

As a bonus, it's the last strip (as of currently) to have all of the members of the Order of the Stick! (Right?)

And things I didn't notice until today: Lien's return in 482.

Red XIV

These are all great strips. But the overwhelming funny of 485 wins out for me.

I like 483 for the artistry of the two facing pages with the characters looking towards each other in the distance; I like the story ending sequence in 484 as Azure City goes "off the grid"; and in 485, "feather fall" may well be the best single frame in the entire comic.

It's a tough call, but 483 is the one I go to when I just want some nice, simple, pictures to unclutter my web browser.

484, for the deadpan expressions on both of the Greenhilt's faces as they look down. Eugenes comment made me laugh out loud:smallsmile:

I vote for 484, cause of all the awesomeness and such, and the wrapping up,
but what hit it home was the last deadpan line: "Shut Up Dad"

484 even though I love Eugene's comment at the end of 485. 484 just feels like that nice epic one you sometimes need to have.

That second page spurt for 484 made the race with 485 look not as close as it really was. 483, as I predicted, was the third place finisher, but a surprisingly large number of people called 482 their second choice.

Lots of Roy-tastic goodness in the next round. The final two rounds after that are also Roy-tastic, but they feature other characters more heavily and for one of them, the result is pretty much predetermined. I don't need to say which one I'm talking about. 485 fans will get a second chance with 486, but they may find it a little too exposition-heavy. But it also arguably has more crossover appeal to people who don't like talking heads ("I rolled a 22!"). It suffers, though, by being the only strip in this group of five without the deva, who seemingly makes strips funnier by her very presence. But the problem is, the other four strips are essentially a clusterbleep, each with their own quirks separating each other from the "crowd". 487 has the revolving door and "Frequent Dying Miles", 488 has constant references to past storylines, 489 may well attract the Belkar crowd, and 490 has Eugene's incensed reaction.

If you strapped me to a torture device and waterboarded me, I would probably say 487 and 489 have the best chance, and 488 is the runt of the four, but honestly, the only thing I know is that 486 is different enough that it will either lag behind, or run away with it. Heck, it may even be right there in the clusterbleep. A very interesting race to look at even if the strip that comes out of it might not be a BotQ favorite.

I vote for 485, if only for the whole "Don't make me talk to my father, Gods!" routine.

484, it just sums it all up nicely for me. Plus I like that last panel, "Gosh, thanks so much for destroying Xykon for me son. My spirit will rest easy now."
