Hello. As much as I like 4e, I will also continue to play 3.5e games. One great thing about 4e is that there are many monsters already made in different roles and levels. This is clearly absent in 3.5e. I was hoping we could all make monsters that would allow a DM to just come here and pick the monster for the appropriate role and level that s/he likes. I know that when I prepare to DM, it take me a long time to make a monster. It takes almost as long as making a knew character, but it only lasts 1 encounter (or more, if it's a recurring villain). I'm trying to see if we can all just do the dirty work and share it. Either post it in this thread or in another thread, but give me a link to it so I can put a link to it from here. Hopefully, this should help us DMs spend less time on the monsters, and more time on thinking of good plots, NPCs, and general fun.

Although having a single Homebrew is great, the main idea is to have multiple versions of the same monster at different CRs or roles to help save the DMs time. But even a single homebrew is great, and maybe someone might up the CR to help out.

[[Reserved for more monsters]] (Hopefully, we'll get enough to need this second post.)

I think that there might already be a topic like this, but you can check my sig to see my homebrews anyway.

I've made hundreds of new monsters; see the links in my signature, specifically Resident Evil D20 & the Elemental Plane of Flesh (refer to the table of contents for easier navigation).

When it is finished getting back up to speed this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10826) will probably be what you are looking for. Until then I recommend the Homebrewer's Extended Signature (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/printthread.php?t=60676) to get a cross-section of a large number of people's creations.

Like I said, although homebrew monsters are nice, the real goal of this thread is to create multiple versions of the same monster. That way it is much easier to DM. If you want a CR 7 Kobold, you just take it from here, as opposed to spending half an hour bumping up the CR 1/4 Kobold. Sorry, just didn't think I was being clear.

This isn't homebrewed, but it's a Feral Bugbear (feral template from Savage Species) that comes out around CR 3, if anyone wants a CR 3 goblinoid that's good in melee

Feral Bugbear

Size/Type: Medium Monstrous Humanoid (Goblinoid)

Hit Dice: 3d10+6

Initiative: +0

Speed: 40 ft

Armor Class: 20 (+7 natural, +3 leather armor), touch 10, flat-footed 20

Base Attack/Grapple: +2/+6

Attack: Claw +4 melee (2d6+4)

Full Attack: Two Claws +4 melee (2d6+4)

Space/Reach: 5 ft./5 ft.

Special Attacks: Improved Grab

Special Qualities: Darkvision 60 ft, scent, Fast Healing 2

Saves: Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +2

Abilities: Str 19, Dex 10, Con 15, Int 6, Wis 12, Cha 9

Skills: Climb +5, Hide +3, Listen +5, Move Silently +5, Spot +5

Feats: Improved Natural Attack(Claw), Improved Natural Armor

All the abilities and feats are in the SRD, and are pretty straightforward so I won't bother listing them.

Is this more like what you're looking for? I also have some CR 6 or so kobolds from an old campaign

Thank you! Like I said, homebrew is greatly appreciated, but this was the original goal!

What would the template be? Typing out all the information in the stat blocks sounds like it would take too much time and space. Are we only typing HP, feats, and other combat related things or are we going the whole nine yards?

I put everything that I had, which is all relevant to combat I think. I'll hold off on posting anything else though until we get an answer to this question. I have a bunch of kobolds from CR 2-10ish, and I kinda have fun advancing/templating monsters and coming up with nice combos, so I'd like to keep this up for whenever I get bored
