Hello,

I am new to both these forums and your Order of the Stick comic. I have been wanting to know what race/creature/monster the fairy-like girl in that comic is based off. From what I understand from the updates on the front page, this comic is made by older edition players (pre-3.x I believe), and the comic universe reflects that, so I would not know what she would be in those editions. In 3.x I would say she resembled a Pixie at first glance, but she would be too large.

Anyone know what she is? Is there specific profiles on the characters in this series?

p.s. Also, your comic rocks!

Celia is a slyph. And what Necroswanso means is, if you have a question like this to ask, ask it in the appropriate part of the forum. Order of the Stick questions go in the Order of the Stick sub-forum. "Hello I'm ____" should be limited to the Hello New Members thread in Random Banter.

She's still pretty big for a Sylph. Then again, the goblins in Dorukan's dungeon all looked about medium sized as well... DM/author liberties have been taken.

An unusually large Sylph, huh? I wonder if they were reprinted for 3.x. Either way, thanks for the info guys.

As for why I made this thread here and not on the Order of the Stick board was because I want to introduce this race into my 3.5 campaign world.

D&D answer: I haven't sen a reprint of the sylph. MM2 got an online 3.5 update, so its possible they decided sylphs did not need reprinting.

According to the 3.5 Archive (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/monsters)on the WotC site, the Sylph is from the Monster Manual 2, page 192. It is a Small Outsider (Air & Extraplanar subtypes), with a CR of 5. I don't have the book in front of me at the moment, but perhaps there's an advancement line that allows for a Medium-size version?

Celia is obviously a Scrappy (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheScrappy).

Celia is obviously a Scrappy (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TheScrappy).

I fail to see the connection; I believe many readers like her. If OOTS has a Scrappy, it was probably Miko (who also has a few defenders among the readers). That's probably why she received the most violent death we've seen so far (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0464.html).

Except that Miko was supposed to be unlikable. Although... Celia probably is too, in her recent appearances at least (she was a much more sympathetic character pre-battle for Azure City).

Sylphs may be small in the MM2, but so are Goblins. Evidently Rich ignored that fact in favour of making them larger.

I'm having a hard time understanding the basis of the question. First, the comic is only written by one person, Rich Burlew (who is also the owner of this entire site). There's also another comic hosted here which is written by two different people, but it has no connection whatsoever to Order of the Stick. Second, while Rich has surely played earlier editions, the very first comic makes it explicitly clear that Order of the Stick uses the D&D 3.5 edition rules.
