So after long hours of study and much frustration.......

I passed my Licensure Examination!!!!!!!*

*the written examination... still need to pass the oral exam.

Hopefully I'll have my actual license in the next two months.
Then it's on to sweet sweet Private Practice... and starvation. :smalleek:

So everyone else come here and spread the word of their most recent successes, and receive the friendly pats on the back on our newly reopened forums!

Great news Hippie, now remember, when doing oral exams it's important not to faint from fear. And I did very nearly do that in my mock for French so it can happen.
Except you'll pass everything, no problem.

Congrats!

I just got some related good news of my own about 36 hours ago. Apparently, the Registrar's Office from my college didn't think that some of my classes for my basically self-designed Medieval Studies minor should fit, so they weren't going to give me my diploma. I've been talking with my advisers for the past five weeks and they JUST NOW decided that I had actually met all the graduation requirements. Now I just have to wait two to three weeks for my diploma to actually ARRIVE.

Yay Hippie! Soon you'll be able to give real advice in the Depression thread :smallwink:
Um... I got my marks back for uni? Two units, two Distinctions (it goes Fail, Pass, Credit, Distinction, High Distinction - I think sort of like F, C-D, B, A, A+) ^_^ Not too shabby at all considering the crap that went down when I was trying to get the last 2 assignments done and study for my exam.

Heya, hippie! I congratulated you earlier on that one blog place where you mentioned it while the forums were down, but you deserve another one here where everyone can see it. Congo rats! (I really need a congo rats smilie.) I know you were stressing it a lot but we all knew you had what it takes. Out of curiosity, how do the oral exams differ from the written? (Aside from the obvious, of course. :smalltongue: ) Is the subject matter different? Are they supposed to be easier or harder? Will you still have to wait forever to find out the results? Once you finish that, are you really going to go into private practice? Do you have a game plan for that? How exciting!

@ Serp - Nicely done, dear, nicely done. Where does that put you in your career at uni, then? I mean, how many more classes do you need before you get a diploma of your very own?

@rtg - Good for you. It's good to hear someone prosper when they've worked hard, stuck to their guns, and gotten rewarded for it. Once you've gotten your diploma, what are you going to do next? It sounds like an interesting course of study, I'm just not sure how you'd actually make a living at it. :smallcool:

@ Andre - I know I heard you finished your Masters but I'll be darned if I can remember what it was in. Care to refresh our memories? How go your follow on plans for that?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma about my own academic future right now, actually. I'm in a position where I've been inspired to continue my education and go for my own Masters but I'm having a hard time choosing what it should be in. I'm an IT guy that does server maintenance and upkeep and I've been thinking about getting a formal education in Information Assurance. (This plan (http://www.umuc.edu/programs/grad/msit/information_systems_assurance.shtml), in particular.) However, I've been advised by an erudite friend of mine that maybe that's not the best course. In fact, it's been suggested that maybe getting a Masters in an IT field would be a waste of time and money, especially since I'm pushing 40 and I actually have to realistically consider my retirement in the big picture, a task I've been failing to do so far.

Seems the best things happened when I was on holidays... maybe I should drive away again. Yes, that's a good idea!
