Feykind are often seen as guardians of the forest and of nature, defending it from being despoiled or destroyed at the hands of mortals. And while dryads or pixies may seem little defense against men with axes and swords, nature is not without her defenses. In times of great peril and desolation, Wyld Maidens are born. The very spirit of nature itself comes upon a dryad, freeing it from its bond to a tree and empowering it, granting it a great and terrible strength, transforming it into a powerful sentinel. Wyld Maidens look like dryads or nymphs, but have cruel, feline claws and mouths full of sharp teeth. They wear no vestments, their forms covered only by their long, ivy-strewn hair. Wyld Maidens are not merciless, and will not harm those they see as innocents, but anyone who takes axe or fire to a forest is marked for the retribution of the Wyld Maidens.
Blood of the Forest (Su)
A Wyld Maiden’s blood nurtures the soil it is shed upon, causing verdant plants to sprout up from even the most barren earth. Whenever a Wyld Maiden is dealt 10 or more points of piercing or slashing damage, its blood is shed, causing entangling vines to sprout in all squares adjacent to it. All adjacent creatures must make a DC 21 Reflex save or be entangled by the vines for one minute, after which the plants wither and fall off.
Primal Surge (Su)
Whenever a Wyld Maiden is reduced to 0 hp, it may choose to invoke its primal surge ability. It is healed 10d6 hp, gains a +2 enhancement bonus to all stats, and is transformed into the form of an animal, as the polymorph spell, but the transformation and bonuses last until the next time it sleeps. A Wyld Maiden can only use this ability once per day, and cannot voluntarily undo the transformation.
Rend
If a Wyld Maiden hits with both claw attacks, it latches onto the opponent’s body and tears the flesh. This attack automatically deals an additional 2d4+7 points of damage.
Maiden’s Gaze (Su)
A Wyld Maiden can sense the presence of those who have despoiled the forest. When a maiden looks on a creature that has felled a tree or killed an animal within the forest where it dwells in the last 24 hours, it sees a glowing mark upon that creature’s brow.
