Dread Empire's Fall- worth it?

The title says it all, folks. I was at the library the other day, and I saw the third book of the Dread Empire's Fall by Walter John Williams. It looked interesting, but I'd have to get one of the other books via inter-library loan. Is the series worth the hassle? No spoilers, please.

I read it. Good, really hard scifi, except for the essential Enstien dodging bit. (In this case, wormholes or transit holes), and a decent story. I doubt I'll pick up the next one, if only because I'm into more humorous books and not quite so hard scifi, but it certainly isn't bad.
