Hmm... style art is Oots-look-alike-art, right? Well, everyone else seems to do that so I'll just stick out a little and do some "realistic" looking fan art then! Vaarsuvius is so cool and funny I did... h/im/er... it just happens to look more like a he though... I fumbled a bit! :smalleek:
Anyway... let's see if this works now...

Okay... didn't work... I'll just post a link then!

Pfft...If no one comments on your picture don't be disheartened. The ammount of pictures I've posted in here that haven't been commented on is...well...Lots...So you know. It's is very good for paint though.

Recent one done because RB said I had to...And I was kinda sad at the time:

2007-02-18, 12:22 PM
Why, thank you, Z-axis. Paint is actually a rather good tool for avatar-sized work. All you new people who haven't tried avatar-making - read lankybugger's thread on MS paint, and try to make your own stuff. You will be surprised at how easy it is.

I still prefer Inkscape, though: the ability to edit stuff when you've drawn it without painstakingly redrawing it is rather useful, not to mention being able to scale it to show off your work at a larger size.

But each to their own, I suppose.

Sampi
2007-02-18, 01:18 PM
True dat, but I don't feel the need to scale up. After all, I do these for the avatar-sized images. To each their own.

Enjoy it. Once again, Problembs with Resizing. If you want to try to resize it form in into avatar sized, that would be helpful.

ufo
2007-02-22, 03:59 AM
Well, Korias, it is actually a really nice avatar (or whatever), the the shaggy (or whatever you want to call 'em) lines really really ruins the picture. You need to fix it somehow, as it is a shame.

And you need to fix the hands too

Do you use paint?

But otherwise, 102!

Korias
2007-02-22, 02:03 PM
Yup. Paint and Infranview.

I'll set to work on doing the lines, but whenever I send it through Infranview and save it as a Gif, the image looks worse that before. But I'll try to refine it a bit.

Bryn

Don't save it as a .gif, use a .png instead. PNGs support alpha transparency, unlike GIFs which use binary transparency (in a PNG, a pixel can have varying degress of transparency while a GIF can be fully transparent or not transparent, therefore creating results that suffer from aliasing around the edges).

Alpha transparency does not work in Internet Explorer 6, most people should have converted to a modern browser due to compulsory Windows updates (if they were not already using one like Firefox, they would have had to download IE7). Nonetheless, many people still use IE

Just a generic businessdude with a cellphone and one of those headset things.

Of course, he's also got a totally bitchin' laser sniper rifle as well as some light combat armor, but he doesn't carry that stuff around unless he's planning to use it. He does have a concealed Glock, though.

:edit: and here he is in his combat gear.
http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/2457/modernsniperxn8.png

Yes, he's firing the rifle 1handed without using the scope. Yes, he can do that without penalty. Yay for compact weaponry and a video scope that can be linked to a HUD.

My version looks like this:
http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f277/LoopyZebra/Avatars/girlwbluedragon1.gif

I'm not happy with it. Any recommendations on how to make the dragon look, um, not lame? And how should I replicate her facial expression? There's some other things I'm still going to do to it, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. With rewards of cookies.

Shattersnap

Change the shape of the dragon's eyes to make them sharper and more reptilian. Also, I think that I would do something about the dragon's brow. I don't know what, maybe just make it a line? It looks kind of strange. For the woman's expression, you could probably eliminate her eyebrows all together for a more neutral look. Also, I think that her mouth should maybe be smaller and more neutral as well. Looks good anyway .

I think you should make that little beard lighter in colour (it's so dark it takes away the focus of the face), maybe make the eyebrows longer and the hands a bit bigger (they're really small). Possibly make the mouth a tiny bit longer and more angry looking, but that's not something I deem nessecary, but it could be nice. All in all it's a nice avatar!

Nice job with the moon. Gradiants are fun, no?

The scaled yellow/brown/tan armored parts could be improved by giving the scales a bit less of a round shape to them.

I'm not sure how well the foreshortening on her arm works. And does that look like a lioness? The character in question is a shapeshifting sorceress, and her alternate form is a white lioness.

Cool, what program do you use? If you can, add trasparency to the magic effect. Otherwise, practice makes perfect .

First, I'm pretty sure you did it for an Avatar Request, not adoption  .

Okay, perhaps you should change the bottle, because right now, it looks like some sort of alchohol. Make it more like a traditional potion bottle you see in games, with green liquid up to half-full.

Nice! Though, if you're going for an un-personalized style, one of the eyes should be slightly smaller.

But personalized styles are better

EDIT: Also, the arm doing the barrier seems to be at a weird stance according to the barrier. Though, this is one of the hard things with these stick figures.
