View Full Version : Anyone here take requests?

I'm working on a module for my group and I'd like to have a picture of one of the major NPCs they'll be meeting, as it is likely he'll be important later in the game, but I'm awful at drawing. I was wondering if anyone here took requests for simple sketches? I can supply any kind of description needed and it doesn't need to be something too terribly fancy, just something good enough to get the point across. If anyone can do this for me, it would be wonderful, if not - I totally understand. Thanks.

I'd been tossing around the idea of drawing requested characters, as character sketches are all I can do and I really do need more interesting subjects to draw.

But maybe you should post a description of the character first, then invite potential artists to draw a rendition so they know what they're getting into first. Cause if I agree, then you just say "Okay, well, he's just a guy with a goattee in a plain robe," (not saying this would be a character you want drawn, just coming up with an example of something I would NOT want to draw) I'm going to be conflicted between honoring my word to draw your character, and my strong desire to avoid wasting my time drawing something that I won't enjoy drawing.

Also, before you hold up much hope for me doing a picture, know that I don't use color in my sketches for two reasons - 1) I'm not good at it, and 2) I lost my collection of good markers, so haven't had the ability to practice.

Here are some examples of my artwork, taken from the last D&D game I was involved in, so you can determine whether I've got the style you're looking for:

Duuuuude.
Those are some very nice pieces.
I'm thinking about requesting something just so I can see more.

I would say 'wow' or something, but it would be an understatement. So,

If you go ahead with the making custom pictures things, I'll be on the sidelines clapping.

Thanks so much for the compliments. Please, by all means, make some requests. Like I said, I'm looking for new material to draw. I'm starting to run out of characters from my own games.

And I'm going to be posting some more of my work in the arts & crafts section, since that's where I'm pretty sure it belongs.

I would like a female humanoid who transformed herself into an air elemental permanently. Still humanoidlike in shape but a cloud in form. long hair and a shirt and trousers, preferably shown spitting a 60 ft line of acid, if you don't mind of course.

words cannot describe how good those pictures are...

must make request...How about a evil psion (telepath), thrallherd. (basiccaly a powerful D&D psion with mindcontrolled serveants. just see the d20srd or pm for more information.)

TheEscapist

I appreciate the compliment! :) And I'd be happy to draw the psion for you, but a little more detail regarding the character would be helpful. I can draw a thrallherd, but chances are it wouldn't look one bit like your thrallherd. Anyway, Gezina asked first, so you've got some time to get the details down. Instructions as simple as what she gave would be perfect.

Here it is, Gezina. It was very difficult for me to figure out how to draw the acid stream, but I did the best I could without making it look like a death ray. I put her in fantasy-type clothes cause I just assumed she'd be a D&D style character (half dragon-turned elemental, maybe?) Lemme know what you think, I'm not entirely sure if I'm happy with it for a number of reasons, mostly because it demanded a lot of elements I don't find myself using in drawings terribly often.

What did you have in mind? Changing it or redoing it entirely is a pretty simple matter, I just worked with the basic information you gave me.

And I'm still waiting to hear back from the guy who posted the thread, too...

I don't really know, I tend to ask for things without picturing them entirely in my mind.

I would be next in line. when you finish your other sketches would it hurt too much if youcould draw my two characters.

William: a Hafling cleric, almost bald, wearing scale mail over his robes, equipped with a short sword and a wooden sheild, preferably he is riding a donkey.

Chump: Half Orc Ranger, more human-ish than orc, he is wearing studded leather and is equipped with a longbow and a battleaxe. he doesnt have that stupid look that orcs are given.

Preferably these two would be in the same scetch, but its okay if they arent.

Alright, alright.

For anyone and everyone who wants to do this:

A small ginger tabby cat holding up a butcher knife. Any pose is fine. Here's some reference work to go off of.

I'd love to have a more realistic drawing of GW done if anyone'd like to give it a shot!

Here's the description I posted to the avatar request thread:

As a synad, Ghost Warlock looks like a totally hairless human with pale skin. His face is painted to look like a frowning white skull. GW has a threefold mind, which sometimes manifests in the form of "two ghostly heads completely devoid of hair, eyes, ears, mouth, or nose." In the synad picture on page 140 of Complete Psioinc, though, the faces have the faint impression of angry-looking eyes. Although they only show up when he's out of power points and standing in dim light, I'd like the faces depicted - probably even more faded and transluscent than GW himself.

He wears a dark gray or black vest, open in the front and with a belt and a pair of baggy, royal purple breeches (Ialdabode in the Expanded Psionics Handbook demostrates the style). He also wears a black psicrown with sharp spikes rising symmetricaly from the brow. GW carries no weapons and does not have a psicrystal. He has crafted a focus from the fang of a vampire, which he wears like an amulet on a necklace. Also like Ialdabode, GW wears big boots.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what to have him actually doing in the picture (if anything). The purple miasma effect in the synad picture is cool, but I also think it'd be cool to have him maniuplating some kind of crackling, indigo psionic energy. His build focuses on undead-slaying so maybe have him obliterating some undead baddy with disintegrate or a blast of positive energy. I'm not sure if any of that would simply make it too busy, though, and he should just be standing there...

Obviously, for monochrome/graphite sketches, I'm expecting the color details to be ignored. Oh, he's tall (6'5"/195.58 cm) and skinny (175 lbs./79.38 kg).

2006-09-06, 09:19 PM
TheEscapist, are you still looking for things to draw? Because I have a couple characters who I'd like to see realistic sketches of.

#1: Loren Ashbrand. She's the one in my avatar and siggy. She wears leather armor which is fashioned to look like scale mail, and has blond hair down to the bottom of her shoulder blades. She's a druid, so if you're looking for a background for your picture, a forest or jungle setting would be good. Finally, her left hand isn't exactly a human hand. Instead, she has a deinonychus hand. If you don't know what that looks like, here's a reference (http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/dinosaur/deinonychus_hand.gif). Like that, but with skin on it.

Optional details:
Kivsith is Loren's animal companion, a t-rex. I'd really like him to be in the picture, but if you don't want to put him in, that's alright.
Loren has a Xendrik boomerang, which looks like three scimitar blades fused together.
She also has a short sword.
Finally, she has a darkwood sheild with an inlaid design consisting of a tree with the sun setting behind it, and an eagle flying overhead.
Loren has a very faint scar wrapping around her neck. I put this one as optional because it's faint, and you shouldn't go out of your way to put her in a pose where her neck is visible, unless you want to.

#2 Laurin Frostvale. She looks exactly like Loren, but with black hair, a small horizontal scar on her left cheek, and a long black tunic with dark silver trim. She's pure evil, so give her a pose/facial expression that shows it. Perhaps an 'I'm better than you' smirk. Her weapons of choice are two dragonhide whips, one silver, and one black (in her case, I don't put her weapons under 'optional' because she just isn't Laurin unless she's cracking her whips at someone). For her, a good background might be a town. Or perhaps flames and people running for their lives. Whichever suits your fancy.

Optional details:
Laurin's familiar, Sikthiv, is a white persian cat. Like Laurin, he's pure evil, but he might not show it as much. He'd probably wear that typical persian 'snob' look.
Trapped within Laurin's dragonhide whips are two dragon spirits, which, if you wanted, you could put faded ghostly versions of in the background. One is a Silver dragon (http://www.battleduck.com/media/images/printimages/silverdragon.jpg). He's an old dragon, a once-great noble champion of good, but now a shell of what he once was. He should have the look of one who has completely lost all hope. The other is a very young Black dragon (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/iw_Black_dragon_lg.jpg) who, while not as depressed as the Silver dragon is, doesn't have the youthful energy he would have had in life. He should maybe have a look of almost-evil-but-not-quite suspicion.
If you can figure out a way, it would be good to give the silver whip a cold appearance, like it would freeze you if you touched it, and the black one an acidic appearance.

You said earlier that you wanted more interesting subjects to draw, and I can only hope that these are interesting enough. If you would consider drawing them, I would be most appreciative.

I suppose I could accept requests from people, but my... ahem... specialties are limited.

Here're some examples of what I can do from earliest to latest works:

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f21/aznsenseiliao/largo3.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f21/aznsenseiliao/pally3.jpg

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f21/aznsenseiliao/Picture.jpg
http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f21/aznsenseiliao/Picture002.jpg

As you can see... I like armor... a lot. I also prefer drawing men. So, should any of you request anything from me, make sure it's not female, and if he happens to be armored, I'm your man. That's not to say that I can't draw unarmored men, I'm just good at armor.

Sorry it took so long for me to upload these... I actually had them done a week or two ago, but I was too lazy to scan them in immediately, then I kinda forgot... :-/

But anyway, the first is one I was commissioned to do via email:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Emptiverse/Leonard.jpg

And then, there's Chump and William, who are still in rough form since I wasn't sure exactly if this is what he wanted. Particularly, when William said his namesake was "almost bald," I couldn't figure out if he meant a buzzcut or a male pattern baldness look, so here I have him sporting a Captain Picard-style 'do:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Emptiverse/RoughWilliam.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v234/Emptiverse/RoughChump.jpg

I wanted to get that little bit of ambiguity cleared up before I marry the two pictures.

I've taken note of the other requests here, and fortunately I have a long night at work ahead of me with which to get them started. I'm particularly looking forward to drawing the druidess and her evil twin, but I'm doing them in order, so Ghost Warlock is next up. The knife-wielding tabby's a little off my normal fare, but I'll see what I can do there, too.

Willliam: william is practicaly what i imagined. williams hair is indeed a "picard style" but the side-burns i imagine dont go down that far, but he's good anyhow. if the sheild ends up being shown, then put the symbol of yondala on it. you dont have to do it, i dont want you losing sleep over my request.

Chump: He's Kinda faint, but he still looks great. i imagined he would have small fangs on his jaw, but only enough to show he's not entirely human, but other than that hes pretty good.

One more thing, in the game, william got a helmet of allighnment changing, i think thats what its called, now William is C/E and thus no longer worships yondala. also his expression and pose might change to an eviler look

On that note, if you need more description, id be happy yo do so, but i asked you to do it so i could get all the details. So for the most part, Chump and Williams looks are in you hands.

Ogreth The Tortise
He's a human and is built like a dwarf. He has a wide frame and is a head taller than most. He carries a Large, spiked Steel Shield shaped like a turtle shell. In his other hand he keeps a jagged scimitar. He has shoulder-length hair, pulled back and braided in dread locks. He's clean shaven. He wears a loose chainshirt, a thick belt with a tortise buckle, and thick, leather pants ripped off halfway down the calf (like floods).

Hi and get well!

There is no hurry with, if you could draw them when you feel like it I would be happy.

Two characters.

Ferodor, elven Cleric of Vanya(Mystara setting) he has seen DnD, ADnD and DnD 3/3.5. He is a tall elf not skinny, he is like a coiled serpent ready to strike. He has long rugged black hair. He fights with two bastard swords, wears no armour only loose fitting clothing and a cloak. He has a pair of bracers with dragon pictures on them and around his neck is a holy symbol of Vanya(Three swords crossed). In his previous encounter he fought a Gray render in maw, shirt torn/bite marks. Ferodor is battle hardened but has a good heart. A battle or battle healing pose.

My current PbP character Yuridin:

Yuridin is a tall heavily built dwarf. He has short brown hair and his beard is a bit burnt. He wears a battleplate (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/ros_gallery/83331.jpg) (the one on the right), towershield and a dwarven waraxe. He is a Runesmith and can cast spells while wearing armour. He has runes inscribed on his armour tat dissolve once cast. I would him to be casting a spell through the rune on his axe.

I would be very happy if you would draw these, as I said no hurry

I have a request, if you have the time. I need a cleric of Cyric, and a an assassin. If you're willing to, I'd prefer them in the same picture, with the cleric more in the foreground, and the assassin a little farther back.

The cleric will be in full, spiked battle gear, (flowing cloak/cape and all) with a wicked heavy mace hanging from his belt (right side and I had imagined something akin to the witch kings flail, but no chain) and a spiked large sheild on his left arm emblazoned with the symbol of cyric on it. He will have his helmet off, in his right hand. Not particular to the design of the helmet. He has shoulder length black hair, oulled back in a pony tail, and a bit of a sneer on his face.

The assassin will be in black clothes, with a drawn up hood, and glowing eyes. He will have a light corss bow in his hands, and two swords on his back,as well as assassin things knives, vials of poison, and darts, strapped to his chest. He is in black. feel free to make his clothes look cool however you want.

Oh, and if its not too much, and large symbol of cyric in the background would be appreciated :)

Hope you get well soon! Hospitals can get very boring.

Sorry to hear that you're unwell. I hope you get better quickly.

Since you requested drawing work for your convalescence, here's a character of mine in need of a drawing.

Justance Senneset.
Appearance: brown hair, brown eyes, medium height, medium build; decently attractive, but it is his intelligence and vitality that most attract others.

Story: His father is a tavern-owner in the city, but Justance can no longer call it his home. His sorcerous gifts are unwelcome in a society where magicians are considered witches. After a severe injury to his leg, which left it twisted and gave him a permanent limp, he devoted himself as a cleric of the major LG god in his world.

Distinguishing Features: Crutch, crippled leg, rat familiar, tradesman's apron, determined look on his face
