I personally like some of the Pendulum songs, especially Slam (http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=-bVBqsiAMEI&feature=related) and Submarines Remix (http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=3L7HrUhWk4U[/url).

And then, of course, there is Caramelldansen (Speedycake Remix). :smallamused:

DotA and Boten Anna (club remixes) - Basshunter

Anything by Scooter

Half the Mortal Kombat movie soundtrack

But don't take my word for it, I get a good bit of my techno from my mom's group fitness CDs

Basshunter? Pendulum? Flo-Rida? Techno? Well, to each their own, but I don't class any of them as techno myself (and only class one of them as good :smalltongue:)

Here is where I go for my techno, and all my other party music. (http://www.partyvibe.com/vbulletin/downloads.php?do=cat&id=19) It's a good site for danceable music, not just techno - drum'n'bass, breakbeat, psytrance, the lot. If I had to recommend one download, I'd say go for this one (http://www.partyvibe.com/vbulletin/downloads.php?do=file&id=1381). You'll need to register though.

Yeah, probably your best bet is to find a dance music forum and download some DJ sets to listen to - a lot of them have special sections where budding (or established) DJs can upload mixes. A lot of techno / trance / DnB / whatever makes more sense in the context of a mix, and if you don't know much about the stuff, it can be a good way of finding out more - look for a mix that includes some of the stuff that you do know and it'll probably have more in the same vein.

One could also try this, a 75 min mixtape by one of my freeparty mates. 'Tis brilliant. Jungle book electro. (http://www.djmixtape.net/dl.php?m=4309)

Sorry, but the electronica nut that I am just wants to get this straight. I don't think you're necessarily asking for techno. Techno is a subgenre of electronica. To me, it sounds like you're looking for good stuff to dance to. A few genres I'd recommend are dance (naturally), trance, uplifting trance, Euro-trance. I would recommend house or breakbeat, but that's some hard stuff, and most people wouldn't like it too much unless they're on some psychedelic stuff. That's what they use at raves. So I've heard. (I've never been to one. Really.)

Have you tried Cascada? I think that's what you might want. Good songs from them:
A Never Ending Dream
Miracle
Lonely*
Runaway*
Bad Boy*
Because the Night
Ready for Love
What Do You Want From Me (and if you can find the hypasonic remix, so much the better)
Reason

Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna*

Mr. Vain by Culture Beat

Jump to the Bass by DJ Cargo
Check It Out by DJ Cargo
Pinocchio by DJ Cargo

I'm Blue by Eiffel 65

The Whistlesong by Pulsedriver

Hardly A Day by QED
Love Bites by QED

Rhythm Is a Dancer by Snap!

Feel Fine by Tune Up!

And now for a lot of stuff by Basshunter:
Boten Anna*
Trance Up
Welcome to Rainbow*
DotA*
Heaven
Tetris

I put asterisks by the ones I think are your best choices.

Vrantique by DJ Elof is an amazing trance song... perfect for dancing. Star Traveler by Ferry Corsten is also an excellent trance tune. Otherwise basically errthing I like has been posted.

Ha ha, yes. I restrained myself from banging on about Ricardo Villalobos and Jeff Mills and Basic Channel...

I see people still like to confuse the different genres. Scooter ? Basshunter :smallconfused:

Well, considering your list I suppose you probably should stick with the suggestions here.

If you want something else, and I'm assuming you wont like the minimalistic swechno stuff, I suggest getting your hands on some mix tapes from the more varied guys at first and see what you like

My recommended list for beginners would be:
Laurent Garnier, DJ Hell, Carl Craig, Claude Young, Jeff Mills, Derrick May...

Only true half the time. I've been to many a rave without any kind of psychadelics or any other odd substances and still love the breakbeat.

Oh, I like the music when I'm not under influence. I just don't think too many other people do. Although I'm not sure, because the whole genre is very quiet where I live. I know only three other people who listen to Basshunter for Pete's sake, and I introduced one of them to him so that shouldn't even count.

coolgaelbert, Awesome list

I especially second Cascada and Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna.
Although, how could you forget this:
7 Years and 50 Days (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naceUzYAEeA) by Cascada.

Also, can't believe nobody mentioned Paul van Dyk:
New York City (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZGj4ylZmQ4)
Crush (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJwcf5C8T3k)
Nothing But You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kTAnnimhy0)

Armin van Buuren (my favourite DJ):
The Sound of Goodbye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmALuDVrcA4)
Shivers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_ecM-Cn0-o)
Control Freak (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DMf931l_rw) (no vocals on this track though)

Tiesto (meh I don't particularly like him since most of his stuff only sounds good if you're stoned or drunk but he does have a few nice tracks):
Dance 4 Life (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84psYe3g3kM)
Sweet Things (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoZ4vzZ2YMo)

ATB:
Marrakech (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9eboeGfV6I)

PS: Paul van Dyk and ATB are coming to Vancouver!!! woo!!! I'm very, very stoked.

I was under the impression that 7 Years and 50 Days was by Groove Coverage. Speaking of which-
Songs by Groove Coverage:
7 Years and 50 Days
Fly On the Wings of Love
Moonlight Shadow
Poison
Million Tears

Long Way Home by ATB

Pulesangen by Beattraax

Ecstasy by DJ Tiesto
Forbidden Paradise by DJ Tiesto

What is Love by Night at the Roxbury

Blue 2008 by Northern Inc

Maybe I've just heard the wrong songs, but I've never been a huge fan of Paul van Dyk. And thanks.

There's a Cascada cover (or is it a remix? I don't know for sure) which is IMO much better than the original.

I know this isn't techno, but it's perhaps the best party music out there: Liquid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmo1VW_wA_o) Tension (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEZC0ZJ1AW8&feature=related) Experiment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy5iOrBzSHM&feature=related). It's like Dragon Force without the suck lack of originality. Right...

For the record, thats Acid Rain, Universal Mind, and Another Dimension, in that order.
