To all others: It is considered bad form to use an avatar without asking permission of the artist. Unless, of course, you have it specifically made for you. Please ask before you use any of the avatars in the portfolios of the artists unless it states in their requisites or on their portfolio site that you may use the avatar without asking permission.

If after you've posted your request to the request thread twice and there is no response, please PM one of the active artists below. (Do not repost your request until at least 48 hours after your original request, please.)

If you are PMing a request please do not PM multiple artists. They don't want to waste their time doing a favour for you if you've already got someone else doing the exact same thing.

A slight suggestion: to save loading time to make a post, please make a link to your picture after 3 days to make it easier on dial-up.

Is this where I would post my avatar request? I don't want anyone specific just someone who has the will to get it done. Well I don't know if this is where I put it but i will anyways because its to early for me to be worried right now so here it goes

I know, I know I request alot of avatars but for good reason. Anyone else a fan of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion? I love it! but thats not the point. The point is that i would be ever so greatful if someone could make me an avatar that look like a man wearing all daedric armor with a daedric mace. If you are not familiar with it I can try to send you something on the 24th but I cant make any promises. Pm me if you need anything and thanks in advance. Oh yeah, by the way no helmet but instead a middle aged mans face with shoulder length grey hair. Also Pm me if I wasn't specific enough. Sossity: Half-elf female. Green wide-spaced eyes, no indication of a nose (she has one but it's too flat to be seen on stick art), small mouth without a smile, pale skin with pink undertone. Long red unkempt hair, with a bit of deer horn knotted into it--the character sheet picture has horns tied atop her head, a written description has chunks of horn dangling and bumping against her shoulders, artist's license applies. Artist's license applies also to wide-brimmed hat being there or not, and the exact nature of her plain bleached garment. Heavy boots and gloves in the same color as the garment. Sossity's habitat is the forest, and she could be shown climbing a tree or befriending a beast, or fleeing a forest fire.

Bauti: Halfling female. Dark brown eyes, zestful grin with teeth sharpened to points, skin with yellow undertone. Kinky-curly dark brown hair, dyed blonde but with a lot of roots showing, artist's license to length and style. Artist's license applies also to skin shade, possible piercings and tattoos, and wearing or not wearing studded leather. Outfit is sunshine yellow shirt tucked into pants, laced with flame-orange sashes and cord in the Greek fashion. Bauti's pose is indisputable: mid-performance, swinging a set of lit fire ropes (search for images of "fire poi") streaking trails of fiame; the more acrobatic and flamboyant Bauti's pose, the better.

Hello. I've been posting here for a while now, and I've decided it's about time I got a custom avatar! So here's a polite request:
I would like a female drow with longish red hair wearing a black longcoat and a pair or red wings on her back. If possible, I would like her to be wearing a mask similar to that of the holy symbol of Vhaeraun.

Best I could do under the circumstances, was unsure what 'pale skin with pink undertone' meant. Tried to do dual layer with a touch of transparency... ick, didn't work. But here is my attempt at Sossity -

He's the strong silent type, who wanders around defending people who cant defend themselves, etc. I'd like him to have a big Coolie hat over his eyes, with only his mouth showing, maybe in kind've a smirk. Then I'd like some simple old chinese clothes, with a cloak (preferably billowing to one side) and a simple staff planted on the ground.

I use Gimp, but not to make them. It would seem nye impossible. I use it to set the transparency with a BG color and then save it from the Inkscape format to a Gif. Thats it. I use it for maybe 5 quick clicks. :-/

Requesting an avatar, please--two options follow.

Sossity: Half-elf female. Green wide-spaced eyes, no indication of a nose (she has one but it's too flat to be seen on stick art), small mouth without a smile, pale skin with pink undertone. Long red unkempt hair, with a bit of deer horn knotted into it--the character sheet picture has horns tied atop her head, a written description has chunks of horn dangling and bumping against her shoulders, artist's license applies. Artist's license applies also to wide-brimmed hat being there or not, and the exact nature of her plain bleached garment. Heavy boots and gloves in the same color as the garment. Sossity's habitat is the forest, and she could be shown climbing a tree or befriending a beast, or fleeing a forest fire.

Bauti: Halfling female. Dark brown eyes, zestful grin with teeth sharpened to points, skin with yellow undertone. Kinky-curly dark brown hair, dyed blonde but with a lot of roots showing, artist's license to length and style. Artist's license applies also to skin shade, possible piercings and tattoos, and wearing or not wearing studded leather. Outfit is sunshine yellow shirt tucked into pants, laced with flame-orange sashes and cord in the Greek fashion. Bauti's pose is indisputable: mid-performance, swinging a set of lit fire ropes (search for images of "fire poi") streaking trails of fiame; the more acrobatic and flamboyant Bauti's pose, the better.

Fabulous work--I'm floored by the response.

While I admire both renditions of Sossity, and Omen's fire background is perfect, something about the non-sticklike legs/pants of Faceninja's drawing tipped the decision and I'd like to use that one for my avatar.

ElfLad--You're making the same mistake I used to make when drawing flails; the piece extending from the hand (the rope in your case and the flail handle in mine) is straight, and only the piece attached to the end of that (the trails of fire, or the flexible bit of the flail) is curved to show motion. The curved weapons in Shirwill Jack's Sheaux (Vorpal Tribble's sig) are whips at rest, not ropes in motion. Evil grin noted and approved though ;D

Well, in the spirit of a new campaign, I'd say it's about time I knelt before the altar of OotS artistry (I noticed a pretty big pantheon) and humbly submitted a request. You guys are spectacular, really.

So! Here's the skinny. I'm in a Naruto d20 campaign, and I'd like a ninja avatar (if you're familiar with the series, that'd probably be a lot easier).

Chiba:

Features: Long blonde hair, covering half of her face, wears a forehead protector (no symbol; I'll add it myself once I find out what village I'm starting in), wears the standard mesh ninja undergarment with a short-sleeved open jacket worn over, along with mid-length shorts with the shuriken holster on one leg, and the standard ninja sandals. The color scheme isn't all that important to me (I suppose it's an opportunity for creative liberties). Same goes for accessories and such. I'd prefer if you drew what looks good, rather than pandering to me. :P

Pose/Expression: Somewhat confident/cocky, I suppose. I'm not much for poses; I'm sure that you'd know what looks good better than I would.

Reference: I had Mitarashi Anko in mind when I thought up this character, so this might be of help.

Hmmm... the shadow effect is actually a translucent circle, but I'll see if I can make the colors clearer.

Its got a grey background because your browser doesn't fully support PNG. On a browser with proper support, it is already transparent. I leave it on PNG for 3 reasons:
1) GIF, while better supported on IE, loses some color quality, as you have noticed.
2) Sodipodi can only export to PNG, meaning I have to load the image in GIMP to convert to GIF, and thats extra hassle.
3) I use a browser that supports PNG

Gif doesn't support partial transparancy, it's either completely transparant or it isn't, so everything with more than 50% transparancy becomes transparant and the rest isn't at all.

I don't think my AA has ever NOT been on for the wand tool. I've got an idea that might be the solution to the problem, but I can't test it until I'm back on my box. I'm also using IE for my browser here, which means I get a lovely grey box instead of transparency for PNGs.

Well, in the spirit of a new campaign, I'd say it's about time I knelt before the altar of OotS artistry (I noticed a pretty big pantheon) and humbly submitted a request. You guys are spectacular, really.

So! Here's the skinny. I'm in a Naruto d20 campaign, and I'd like a ninja avatar (if you're familiar with the series, that'd probably be a lot easier).

Features: Long blonde hair, covering half of her face, wears a forehead protector (no symbol; I'll add it myself once I find out what village I'm starting in), wears the standard mesh ninja undergarment with a short-sleeved open jacket worn over, along with mid-length shorts with the shuriken holster on one leg, and the standard ninja sandals. The color scheme isn't all that important to me (I suppose it's an opportunity for creative liberties). Same goes for accessories and such. I'd prefer if you drew what looks good, rather than pandering to me. Tongue

Pose/Expression: Somewhat confident/cocky, arms folded across her chest or hands on her hips. Something along those lines would be best, I think.

This is Grug. Up till now i've been a low impact board member, but i want to ramp it up into hi gear. I thnik to start i should get a propper avatar.

First a bit about my name. If you've ever seen another Grug on the internet, It's me. No exceptions. I've used this screename for years. It all started when i tried to use battle.net for Diablo 1. I picked a warrior, and i needed a tough sounding name. So i picked Grug. And the name stuck. Grug became a mace-wielding badass who never made it past the caverns .

However, in real life i am nothing like the brutish, club swinging tough i seem like. I enjoy riddles, games of mental skill, and Various bits of Trivia. If i had to give my stats, i'd say i have 6 Str, 8 dex, 12 Con 13 Int, 8 Wis, and 11 Cha.

I'm looking forward to seeing the entries. The creator of my favorite avatar will recieve the services of the town Grug (grug's are lucky you know). Look in the archives, i was one of the first people to post in the town thread.

I have only been doing avies for a short time, but it is my understanding that if what you upload to a server is not 117x117 (photobucket doesn't care it will still look right there) the forums or IE squishes them to that size. yours appears to have been a smidgen over 117 tall if I had to quess.

:edit: @^ PNG has nothing to do with it, I use PNG myself.

1) Use thicker lines.
2) Make sure the avatar is 117x117 pixels, or its gonna be resized and stretched and generally mucked up when you use it.

This is a direct link to your current avatar. As you can see, its larger than 117x117. Specifically, its 177x177, which leads me to think it was a simple numbering error on your part. I suggest resizing it to 117x117, then adjusting the lines to be ~2 times as thick as they are at its CURRENT size. Also, the eyes are rather large, and the head is rather small. For a 117x117 avatar, I've found that ~40 pixels is a good size for the head.

Exid~ with the other sound advice above, I would also add that non-straight lines help. You can easily modify the lines by:

Using the point editor (about 3-4 down on left) and selecting an element, then while holding the [Shift] click and drag a point to 'round' it. For Inkscape I use a line thickness of 2.0 for body and 1.0 - 1.5 for details. BTW, just trying to help ;D

Our Dm, is being sent overseas for the military and we are changing to a play by post in the shackled city game we are in...here is my characters background and his stats. To be honest, I've always pictured it green as well... despite the lack of description in the DMG.
Maybe you could make it all coolish, like a shiny silver/green.
As for the sunsword, picture a someone swinging a sword over their head to generate light. Yeah. Thats pretty much it, besides the 'killing evil people' thing.
Half-plate is pretty much just normal plateish type armor. The details don't matter so much.

Gender: Male
Race: Half-Fiend Hobgoblin. Very Half-fiend: Bat wings, big claws, random stripes of black on his skin, the works.
Class: Blackguard.
Equipment: Breastplate (black), helmet (any style showing the face), greatsword sheathed on back; visible part of the blade should be black with a red glow, pommel should be suitably nasty-looking.
Pose: Standing there, weapon sheathed, with the traditional evil overlord maniac smile, if you know what I'm talking about.

This is very helpful. I am going to look into how to do this with Inkscape, if it can be done with it. I did see something in one of the programs; Inkscape or Gimp that had something to do with filling with swatches but when I tried it there were no options to chose from. I amagine I have to make a swatch first based on you discription. I will check it out tonight once I get back to my PC and programs :D

If you have a copy of the MM, go to the elves section. There should be a subsection on gray elves with a short description of their appearance. Basically, they have slighty more pale skin than normal elves and different hari colors. They are also slightly taller.

Just a note to everyone out there: The color black gets boring fast, especially in large quantities. Please pick something else. If something on your avatar has to be black, at least give us some other colors to work with. Thank you.

And, there's black, then there's black and then of course there's black. A glint here, sheen there, slightly different shade can make "all black" still come out reasonably interesting. And, of course, there's always blue-black, red-black, green-black, octarine-black, lilac-black...

Also, while I like the Orb of Evil there (or is that the beginning of a spell?), and appreciate the initiative in giveing him something to do with his hands, could I get a sceptre instead? I never got a description of it, but it's Graz'zt's Sceptre of Chaos if that gives you any inspiration.

Thanks, I do not own any 3.5 or any Advance DnD books. I will most definently keep it that way too. I tried ADnD 1st addition and hated it, parused the new SRD site and still don't like the crunch. I started with and will remain with Basic DnD.

I will make the changes. I haven't heard of that sceptre, but the name is quite image provoking, and I should come up with an interesting depiciton of it. Oh, and that orb? I never really thought about what it was, I just made it. It looks cool, and thats all I needed to know about it ;D.

Yes I did. I live in Louisiana where it is still legal to participate in the sport of chicken fighting. Its my passion :)

EDIT: It is only legal in 3 states... LA, NM and AK though it does happen in most states. Interesting factoid, George Washington kept fighting chickens on the White House lawn.

Pretty cool, but I'd say there were too many spikey things (namely the hair and lightning) at the top of the avatar. Maybe move some of them down to balance it out? Otherwise its looking good.

I've got a request.

Draknir Brough was my first character, and still very dear to my heart. He was a scrappy little dwarven monk, and he tried hard despite his subpar ability scores, which were 10 14 11 9 14 2 after racial modifiers. To compensate for his nigh non-existent charisma, we had him both badly burned and mute. He had tanned skin covered in terrible scars. His hair, what was left of it, was brown, as were his eyes. He communicated with others using scraps of paper measuring three inches by five, with notes, generally explaining just how one of the other members had just landed them in deep and terrible danger.

In one series of misadventures, he was brought down to one hit point by a hobgoblin fighter three levels above him (who was only defeated by luck and the provedence of the party's fighter and ranger finally deciding to check up on him), and then the party rogue set off an arrow trap. The arrow flew above the halfling's head, but was just low enough to hit Draknir. One cure minor spell later, and he was at 0 hit points, with an arrow sticking out of his forehead.

I will not relate the ultimate fate of this dwarf, for this is the state I wish him to remember him in. Battered, bruised, burned, and be-arrowed, but unbowed. It is for my signature and not my avatar, so feel free to add in any peril that seems appropriate.

That is so very, very good. I can't believe it...

The only problem I can see is the gun. It doesn't quite look right. My advice is make it smaller and make the handle larger where it connects to the barrel.

Other than that. That is one of the best avatar's I've seen on the boards. Keep up the good work Omen.

Ah. I see you are using that one method that inkscape gives you. You press ctrl+) or ctrl+( right? Such a nifty effect, good for adding depth and shadows. I haven't used it on any of my avatars yet, but with the success you had I think I'll try it.

Thank you all for your kind words. It took me quite a while to do this one but I think it paid off.

I agree the gun is somewhat... unconventional/impractical but all the pics I had of this character showed it this way. I may take some artistic license and make another one with a more realistic gun (Well maybe not realistic ;D but with a 'stronger' grip)

I haven't been using InkScape long enough to know the key-shortcuts but shading was done by drawing it and setting line thickness to zero and lightening up the area.

I like the styling of the red... guy... thingy... but he needs to look more glowing to have the same effect as the example did. Perhaps duplicate him, slightly distort it and make it transparent? Or something?

Hmmm...He was a lot harder to make than a lot of my other avatars though...Mainly because I made him out of scratch. You may have noticed that a lot of my avatars look kinda the same...I use old avatars as bases...But I probably shouldn't have told you that, should I?

But yeah...I'm going to do that distorty thing later, sometime that's not right now...

I honestly can't remember who made me my lovely Mr. Monopoly avatar to begin with, otherwise I'd ask them specifically. But if anyone has the time, it'd be nice if someone could redraw my current avatar as a ghost w/ some trailing chains - think Jacob Marley from A Christmas Carol. It's for the GITP Halloween party, so it's not time-critical in the least.

I'd like an avatar of ghosty Victorian style woman, long hair, loose and kind of messy. So, Google Images should help with the dress if you need it. I can't decide whether is would look better if she was stabbed with a dagger or holding her severed head in one hand. Whatever is easiest/most interesting/better looking to who ever takes this. I'd like her a slighty transparent light blue.
