Hello, playgrounders. This is a thread for talking about your favorite games, and debating which games you think are the best. So, it's pretty much all around game talking about.

Personally, I would have to say that the world ends with you would be my favorite DS game, as I haven't really cared enough about all the other DS games to actually beat them.
Also, for the PC/XBOX 360 I would have to say that Portal is the best game I've seen in a long time. It's got good puzzles, great humor, and also a very memorable line: The cake is a lie!

Alright, favorite video game. Got it.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (1), Super Mario Bros. 3 (2), Super Mario Galaxy (3), Super Smash Bros. Melee (4), Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn (5).

That was easy. That's my top 5 (Sorry Strong Bad, you got 6th).

BEST game? As in, the game that was the best game EVER created in ALL of mankind's history? Okay! Tag, your it. (Whaaat? Did you think I was going to say Brawl?)

Baldur's Gate II is the best RPG. Period. OK, Fallout and Planescape: Torment are up there, but BGII is awesome.
For action games, I can't choose between Half-Life 2 and Halo 1.

As far as action games go, I love the Orange Box, although I never played online I just loved the playability of all the games so much.

All time favorite despite genre has to be Ultima Online. I played since day one at the tender age of 8 and have never faltered, although the game is a shadow of its former glory. A game that holds my interest for nearly 11 years nonstop will always have a place in my heart, in addition to playing it with my Mom when we got a second computer. So many good and tough memories from that game. I could go on for some time about the relationship between my mom and myself over the last 11 years with that game.

OKAMI

okamiokamiokamiokamiokamiokamiokamiokami

Okami = best game ever made and best game that will ever be made.
It's everything I've ever wanted =D

Proof (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/review/R125818.html) and, More proof to how fan-boyish I am of this game (http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=943732&topic=44367264).

Forgot this (http://www.youtube.com/user/MasatoHyuga), just look at the videos I uploaded (A page or two back)

The only fan-boy quality I lack, is the stupidity.

I'm quite inclined to side with Masato Hyuga on this. Okami is almost certainly my favorite game ever. There are other games i like a lot and that i might have played more, but Okami is the one that truly stand out in my mind. Its atmosphere and art direction are just that good, while the gameplay is able to keep up. Honorable mentions go to Baldur's Gate II, Planescape: Torment, Thief II and Monkey Island 3, however.

I'm going to agree with Slaanesh about The World Ends With You. It's definitely among my favourites.

Also among my favourites: Final Fantasy X, Tales of Symphonia, Lost Kingdoms, and Super Smash Brothers....MELEE. :smallamused:

Ima gonna do this with different genres, I dont think I can pick one overall.
Best Action Game: Half Life 2
Best Multi-Player Shooter: Team fortress 2
Best RPG: Gonna go with Oblivion just for the amount of time I've spent with it. I'm sure that there are better games out there, but I am new to computer gaming, where most of it happens.
Best Puzzle Game: Portal, but who knows, Braid may pass it up if the awesome doesn't stop.
Best Racing Game: GTA 4 (what? I know it isn't technically a racing game, but you spend probally half your time in a vehicle!)

Well, thats about as far as my spectrum goes, but here are some other catagories I made up:
Best Plot-twist: BioShock
Current Time-Sink: NWN and NWN2
Best Game to Come: Warhammer Online
Best Powers/ Coolest Abilities: The Darkness (not the greatest game, but some of the things you can do are just awesome).

Maybe I'll come up for some more later.

Best game ever? Of all time? Well that reward goes to Gothic. It's a fantastic RPG. No seriously, it is godly. It was one of the first games to have a big world for you to explore. It has an entertaining plot, fun characters, really cool armor and weapons. A really nice magic system. All the replay value with all the different ways you can take your characters, and the different factions you can join, make this game amazing. Even the minor quests are entertaining, and provide the right amount of challenge.

Given the unhealthy number of hours I've played these games, I'll vote for Chrono Trigger and the original Legend of Zelda.

Favorite RPG: Chrono Trigger
Favorite Acton/RPG: Kingdom Hearts II
Favorite Handheld: FFTA2
Favorite Multi-player: Brawl

I have a feeling that if I ever get The World Ends with You that'll stomp out FFTA2, but only until I beat it. Once Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days hits the US, that'll top a lot of my lists. Unless ChronoTrigger Ds hits me first.

Wow...I just realized how limited my spectrum of love is.

Ooh, I knew I forgot some.

Diablo- fun multiplayer
Diablo 2- fun multiplayer
Warcraft 2- generally awesome
Warcraft 3- ditto, also has a great editor
World of Warcraft -isn't exactly my cup of tea, but it definitely beats out all the other MMO competition. They all try to be WoW anyway.
Civilization 2- one of the best games of its kind
Monkey Island 1- absolutely hilarious
Monkey Island 4- absolutely hilarious...IN 3D!
Loom - a brilliant and amazing game...definitely better than a lot of the games that are coming out nowadays.

Oh, and Kingdom Hearts 2 is probably the best action/RPG.

My absolute favotire game would have to be...

Lunar Knights because the power to mess with the weather is just too good to pass up, plus it introduced me to the Boktai series. And a nice bonus is that I'm better at it than most people I know.

The storyline and features kept me interested long enough to unlock everything and keep wanting to play it more. Basically, I'm addicted.

I have only a couple things I do NOT like about the game- 1. It's kind of a short game and the dungeons aren't really that hard.:smallsigh: I wish they had put more puzzles and made the bosses harder. And 2. The terrenials look stupid and some of the characters are really annoying. and 3. What kind of name is Toasty?!:smallfurious:

Some of my other favorite games are *Zelda: Minish Cap, Summon Night: Swordcraft Story, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Tales of Phantasia, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, Super Mario RPG, and Kirby 64*
-Also, I've noticed that I like handheld games better than console and computer games.

Oh, I just remembered one more game. Summoner. It wasn't the best game ever, but it was pretty fun, had an interesting premise, had a solid multiplayer, and had one of the best cities in any game (Lenele).

*To quiet the riot ya'll are making about series games, "SMB series separate! WTH is that?" it's because some games I like more than certain other games in the series games. (aka, I like Super Mario Bros 3 more than Super Mario Bros. or I like one game (Like Fire Emblem) over other games in the series (like SMB).)

Well, I don't think I could name one favourite game, but here are my favourites by genre:

RTS: Company of Heroes. Brilliant gameplay, and one of the few RTSes that don't boil down to a game of 'who's got the most units'.
TBS: Master of Orion 2, hands down. Great game mechanics, great atmosphere. Too bad it's really getting old now.
RPG: Morrowind. Oblivion has shinier graphics and some gameplay improvements, but it's also lost something. The Elder Scrolls series is far from perfect, though; the engine is shoddy, and the game mechanics themselves aren't that great, but they're very immersive games.
Action RPG: Diablo II. Only one game came close to its greatness (Titan Quest), but only Diablo III has a chance of surpassing it.
FPS: Call of Duty 2. CoD4 has better game mechanics, but I don't like the setting. A downside of the CoD series is that they're not very replayable.

Best RPG: Baldur's Gate II, no competition.
Best FPS: Call of Duty 4. If it's restricted to games I own, then Battlefield 1942.
Best 3PS: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. The Jedi Knight series are the only 3PS's I've ever played.
Best 4X: Master of Orion II. Galactic Civilizations 2 doesn't give me quite enough control.
Best RTS: Starcraft.
Best TBS: Heroes of Might and Magic III.
Best Action "RP"G: Diablo II. The first one is very close.
