I'd like to be able to draw comics, but so far I don't have Illustrator (why do they make it so expensive, anyway?)

So far, I have Mac OS X Leopard, and the only thing I've been able to find is "Drawberry." a drawing tool that can't do anything I need.

I also tried Inkscape, but I can't seem to get it installed correctly.

Is there any other free software I could use to draw, that's compatible with OS X Leopard?

Inkscape will only work if you have X11 installed. It comes on the install disc, but you might want to download a more recent version at XQuartz. (http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki)
