Avatar help/question

I followed the instructions on the 'creating your own avatar' thread and saved my .gif, uploaded it to photobucket, but when I put it up as my avatar the image seems stretched out and loses it's clarity. Does anyone know what might have caused that?

Also, how do you post your avatar picture in a message?

Stretched? sounds like your avatar's dimensions aren't 117x117

As for showing images within a post, place the image's URL between the IMG tags.

Hmm, I know it's saved at 117x117. I thought I followed the directions very thoroughly. I love my little avatar, but it loses it's 'crispness' and shape when I post it up here. Lemme try to post the picture:

hmm, now that I'm at a different PC, it looks distorted and stretched out again. While at work it looked fine. Wonder what's up.
