This thread is a place to tell everyone about what your favorite Dungeons and Dragons miniature is and why. Pictures are encouraged, and I recommend picoodle hosting, for some reason my computer does not render images from imageshack or photobucket.

Mine: Raistlin Majere:

I've got quite a few, so I can't pick just one favorite, but I have several.

Tordek, Dwarf Champion (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/DQ_Minis_x/TordekDwarfChampion.jpg), was the first rare mini I ever pulled, and I've kept him in my pocket as a good-luck charm ever since.

The War Weaver (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/DQ_Minis_x/WarWeaver.jpg) was the mini for the coolest character I've ever seen played, and that endears it to me somewhat. I'm glad I used to have two of them, so I could give one to the guy that played the PC and still have one to use as an NPC.

When I finally get to PLAY in a 4E game, I know the character I'll be playing because the Dragonborn Fighter (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/mi20060629a_prod2.jpg) is just so cool-looking.

Also, this one (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/DQ_Minis_x/AspectofTiamat.jpg) strikes fear in the hearts of all my players, and that makes it awesome.

Oh, and that Raistlin mini is neat. Is it an official WotC mini, or some other company's?

Well, unfortunately I don't have anywhere around me to buy anything BUT WotC minis (and I can only find them at B&N), and I haven't gotten to the point of trying to buy singles online yet. Also, I can't paint worth a crap, so I doubt a lot of those unpainted minis, no matter how cool they are, would be worth it.

Man oh man, I was totally gonna post my miniatures before Renegade said how lame WotC mini's were. Dang that was totally close.

That's like the time Renegade told us all to post images of our jeans and I posted mine just before he let us all know how un-cool Levies were. I was like "FFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!! NO! God dang!" and everyone saw I had lame jeans.

It was really traumatizing.

D&D Minis are awesome, man. I'll choose one and show you, there's several I like a lot, have to decide.

The Raistlin is an official WotC mini, from the Night Below set. See? (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20070503a)

I prefer reaper minis too. They're the cheapest I've found (like, $2.95 each) and they aren't always pigeon holed into D&D classes and races. Of course, I buy my minis because I like painting. They just happen to be useful in gaming.

I'll see about posting pics. I haven't had much luck so far because my camera sucks close up and iPhones are notoriously bad cameras. Maybe my gf's camera or phone will have better luck...

I'd say my favorite is the Dragon that I splurged on: Big and Blue.

Sorry that I don't have a pic, but it's always nice to show the party the scale of their foe...

Edit: Seems I forgot the 'D&D' in the OP! Ignore this then.

WotC? Reaper? Pah. Forge World, for the freakin' win
Since people are generally posting human-size minis, I'll limit myself to that.

Nice Raistlin miniature. I'm a sucker for anything Dragonlance. I have the old Ral Partha heroes and villains of Dragonlance sets, and the Raistlin in that one was kind of...awful.

Hey, they gave those Rastilin minis out at last year's GenCon D&D Minis Open. Except they're repaints, so they're more rare. And I have about six of them.

My favorite Mini at the moment, mainly because my PCs grew to hate it and the BBEG it represented (Silus the Rat Lich (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55087)) so much that they wanted me to give it to them after they finally killed him so they could destroy it too, is below.

Prepare yourselves.

Non-D&D or not, those are pretty BA... Probably expensive too, tho.

I have no idea what it's called but the reaper mini the DM bought for my 4e character(I care absolutely nothing about minis, I play with scraps of paper) and painted for me is awesome. His wife did something to the cape to make it shiny, it's really nice.

A bit too techie for what I like in D&D.

Also, I don't think the D&D minis are at all limited in race or class. I don't really give much care to what the name of the mini says it is, I just use them as I see fit.

SWM: Rancor

I kinda want one of those to use for D&D. I don't know what I'd use it for, but it'd be awesome.

Speaking of Aspects, my old roommate really liked the Aspect of Nerull (http://www.wizards.com/global/images/dnd_mi_20050929b_picMain_en.jpg) mini. I've always planned to sit either it or a Skeletal Reaper (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/BW_Gallery/58.jpg) on the table next the minis of any PCs I happen to kill off... :smalltongue:

Some other fun ones that I remember are the Pseudo-Dragon Familiar (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/un_gallery/Pseudodragon.jpg) (from Unhallowed) for being the miniaturest miniature, and the Orc Wolf-Shaman (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/iw_07072005_Orc_Wolf_Shaman.jpg) for just being freakin' cool.

SWM: Rancor

When the party ran into large sized opponent represented by the aspect of Hextor, my cleric(of Kord) got enlarged and represented by an aspect of Kord.

We had a grand-ole' Aspect battlin' time.

I never bought minis. Actually, I never found minis. So, my decidedly favorite miniature piece to play with to use for my character is none other then A Queen from my Chess Set. (http://media.photobucket.com/image/queen%20chess/Tentacruel13/Chess/P7120005.jpg?o=1)

That or An M&M, so That I Can Eat It When I Kill The Monster (http://media.photobucket.com/image/m&m%20candy/xorosieox98/candy.jpg?o=19)

EDIT:

How could I forget my very favorite Mini? One time, I used a pop can as a Purple Worm. That one was funny...

I think that reaper minis are probably some of the best around, if a little irregular in scale. I would post pictures of some of my favorites, but the problem is that they were painted around 5 years ago and get used absolutely constantly, so paint jobs that took me 3-4 hours look pretty poo now.

LOL - nice. My group routinely uses the Aspect of Moradin to represent an enlarged dwarf.

That's basically what I got mine for - it's the only SWM I own. Nice mini for a huge fiend or bipedal beast of some kind...

I personally like the Biiig dragon icon minis. Nothing like watching your players get stunned when their minis are dwarfed by a gargantuan dragon plunked down on the battle mat. :smallwink:

I'm only missing the white dragon so far from my collection.

Sadly, I had to leave all my minis across the country when I moved (only 2 more months til I ship them back...) but my favorite (an most expensive!) one all told was from Warhammer FB. It was a complete mod for my (still in progress! once I have the time...) circus themed goblin army (yeah, you heard that right) Instead of a doom diver catapult (http://uk.games-workshop.com/orcsandgoblins/miniature-gallery/images/Doom-Diver_large.jpg), I made a doom diver cannon!

I took the old chaos dwarf earthshaker (http://www.chaos-dwarfs.speedys-universe.de/assets/images/big/P1010026.jpg) (rare and expensive, but I HAD to have the old one) and stuck on the top half of the flier, adding cotton ball "smoke" so it looked like it was firing. All of the crew members were heavily modded too.

Painted it up bright yellow and red, very circusy. Just thinking about it, I want my baby back! *sigh Damn, I wish I had some pictures to show off!

All told, it probably cost me $120 to make, with shipping and etc.

The funny thing is, I haven't played WHFB for years. I just like painting and customizing the minis.

My favorite so far is the Dire Wolf mini, because the spikes on the back make putting her pet Druid's mini on her simple. Which is where the Druid usually is.

There is also a "Tavern Brawler" that is wildly swinging a mug, and it's perfect for the Drunken Master.

When it comes to my player character I use a variety of Reaper minis, but when it comes to opponents, I either stick with the Legos or these figs Mega Bloks has put out recently, they're a mixture of men and orcs and come in random packs of eight and they're actually ball jointed... their weapons are absurdly huge, but I can always pretend it's a Final Fantasy campaign... Here (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/276767) are some (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/276770) pics.

Favorite?

Hard choice.

I'm very partial to my blood demons (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/9307/picture050cm8.jpg) (the lads on the left).

But Baldor (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/3503/picture049ku1.jpg) (kukri) and Eddie (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/4546/picture048ya8.jpg) (deep crystal hammer) are both popular.

Although if I do a good enough job my current Work In Progress (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/3250/picture051oh0.jpg) might be better.

Alright, I've just found the greatest miniature:

http://www.headinjurytheater.com/dnd%20minis%20jesus.jpg

No, not the Baby Jesus riding a Beholder Mage - the fellow in the foreground with a glaive and PIG. Apparently this is an official WotC D&D mini from the Desert of Desolation set.

I gotta get me one of those - it'd be perfect for one of my characters...
