There's probably already been an item like this, only done ten times better, but here goes. Constructive criticism is appreciated, for my kung-fu is not strong.
Sabas' Violin of Violent Dance
Sabas is said to be one of the greatest of all entertainers, a bard of great renown whose ballads were said to be irresistible to all who could hear. This masterfully crafted violin is decorated with gold inlay of tiny dancing figures, all holding a minuscule bladed weapon in hand upon closer inspection. The wooden bow bears the same design, while the strings are steely gray, and seem to be very sharp.
This instrument provides a +4 bonus to Bardic Music and Perform (Stringed Instrument) checks. As well, the bow functions as a +2 shortsword which deals slashing damage. If the user damages any creature, the violin becomes attuned to that creature's Type and, if appropriate, Subtype for the rest of the encounter, or up to a maximum of 6 hours, whichever is first. As long as the user plays this violin and succeeds a DC20 Perform check, all creatures with the same Type and Subtype within hearing range are subjected to the Irresistable Dance spell. Deaf creatures, or those who cannot hear are not affected, as are any within the area of a Silence spell.
