I'm looking for an Arabian-style RPG. I want a native system (*not* d20), good fluff, and an emphasis on style and setting. I'm envisioning a low-magic world, but I'm not married to that. In print is preferable but not mandatory.

Any ideas?

AEG just released Legend of the Burning Sands (http://store.alderac.com/product_info.php/products_id/616?osCsid=285b84de264141b911c9c0d53d2bc696) at GenCon as an expansion to their L5R RPG line - it's heavily Arabian themed, and not d20.

Al-Quadim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Quadim) was a fairly popular Arabian Nights campaign setting for 2nd Edition AD&D. I've never played it more than a module or two modified for my (former) AD&D DM's campaign world, but it was entertaining enough.

It's out of print, but you should be able to find some supplements here or there, try ebay maybe. Or, you could probably buy .pdf versions of the books here (http://www.rpgnow.com/).

Good luck!

Its also quite possible to build one using the Hero system, or Gurps.

Lot of work with Hero, but doable with just one basic book. Only problem is that you literally have to design everything yourself that way, as the Fantasy Hero stuff doesn't have an Arabian feel. Gurps on the other hand undoubtedly has some sort of rulebook, though I can't think of it off the top of my head.

True20 has an entire Arabian setting (Tales of the Caliphate Nights) but it is not a native system.

If it's as good as L5R, I'd second this one.

Oooo, I didn't know that!

Thanks, Swordguy! Have you tinkered with this at all?

AD&D Al-Qadim was already mentioned. Corsairs of the Great Sea and Caravans weren't my favorites but they were interesting. You can check them (1/3 from the top under Al-Qadim) out for free along with Treasure Maps (at the bottom) at WOTC:

I remember having a great time playing in Dark Sun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Sun) with AD&D. The novels were good too. (Of course, I was 14 at the time).

If it's as good as L5R, I'd second this one.

It's significantly better, from a rules perspective, because it more or less works out of the box, while 3e L5R (even the new 3e Revised L5R) doesn't without extensive houseruling.

There is, for example, a 4 page errata for L5R 3e Revised (released at GenCon) already (and growing), while the errata for LBS is 3 items.
