We've seen the spell used before, but it appears to change its effects.

In Cliffport (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0353.html) Durkon used T'sM; note that his head (panel six) is slightly larger than Julia. She is clearly adult-sized, when compared to the Chief in panel 10.

In 588 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0588.html), though, Durkon's casting of T'sM gives him much more size; again comparing head-to-body, he appears to have grown to roughly twice the size he did in Cliffport!

Is this based on his caster level, or does T'sM base the caster's growth on the size of the foe? Is there another spell in the divine list that has a variable growth factor?

It's just a stick figure comic. One shouldn't pay too much attention to such things as size ratios or perspective.

Perspective was used just a couple of strips ago by a couple of Forumites to notice that the trees around Elan were moving closer to him and Therkla; those two (three? one?) were shouted down by the rest of the Playground with roughly the same argument.

Heck, even the changing color of Hinjo's katana has been explained.

The Giant can do anything he want's and/or can!

I agree with this, it isn't worth building an epileptic tree around.

I get the gist, but "epileptic tree"?

to counter the "pointless" claim another way: how is deriving the stats of the spell less worthwhile than, say, the "Guy with a halberd" thread? Seriously, random speculation is what we do around here between strips! :smallconfused:

In cliffport (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0354.html), an adult sized figure barely reaches his hips, and could easily stand on her evil twin's shoulders in his head.

This is true in 588 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0588.html) as well.

So I'm not seeing what the problem is with the Giant Dwarf.

Random speculation is good, but we've also seen several times the Giant breaking the rules in his own playground (Control Weather anyone?) with the magic system.

On a side note, I've never agreed with the Guy with a Halberd trend. There's so many good characters in OotS that picking a random NPC and heaping undeserved recognition on him is at the very best, an exercise in futility, and smacks more of saying something ridiculous, supporting it and seeing how many people will follow your lead.

Edit: Btw, here's an actual answer, the spell Thor's Might is based off of, allegedly.

So no, Thor's Might isn't a variable growth spell and the Giant is just taking creative liberties.

Heh, I'm not going to bother trying to debate whether the GitP is taking liberties with perspective here, but
Durkon and Thor's Might rocked this comic's world. :smallcool::smallcool:
