Allright, so this is exactly what it says on the tin. (No, I didn't make a TVTropes link) Here's where you talk about your favorite songs, and such.

I think there was another thread like this recently, but if so, I can't find it.
My favorite songs:

I don't want to set the world on fire by The ink spots
Love Shine By (I don't know)
HIS WORLD Instrumental remix by (I also don't know)

Links (and more songs) to come.

My favorite song would have to be The Gash, by the Flaming Lips.

At least for now.

Jumpin' Jack Flash is also a contender, though.

I hate Jumpin' Jack Flash

Since I can't beat it on Elite Beat Divas difficulty :smallfurious:

And I love EVERYTHING from the Okami soundtrack.
I uploaded a bunch. (http://www.youtube.com/user/MasatoHyuga)

Though my favorite band is Sonata Artica right now.
and my favorite non-okami song is This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn7ee1IylEs).

My favorite song is easily Goodbye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nO-cHNbW1zo&feature=related) Sky (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W9IyeE4ZEs) Harbour (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vafBW2Lrwe8&feature=related) by Jimmy Eat World. Every word in the song is from the book A Prayer For Owen Meany. It starts off very explosive and through minimalism warps to a quiet and beautiful piece. The actual track from their Clarity record is over 16 minutes and has an 8 part vocal harmony at the end so the don't often play the entire thing live.

My favorite band is probably Modest Mouse. I've been working on a cover of Parting of the Sensory (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpBHaoA5aGc) for my solo project, I Think I Can. The lyrics in many of their songs are freaking brilliant.

Much of the rest of what I listen to is very much on the side of obscure indie rock with country folk tendencies.

My favourites change a lot because of my tendency to listen to one band I like a lot for so often I can't hear them at all after a while. It gets better if I don't listen to them for a year, but there's still bands I can't really listen to any more, like RATM, In Flames, Subway to Sally, Dark Tranquillity, Black Sabbath and some more.

This would mean that my favourite band is the one I can still listen to after years, giving two contenders, Jethro Tull and the Doors. Tull has my highest number of plays quite steadily for a while, so I guess it gets the title.

Much as favourite band, my favourite song changes a lot, usually once a month. Right now it's My God by Jethro Tull, the month before it was Cross-Eyed Mary, the month before it was War Pigs by Black Sabbath.

Favourite album is fleeting as well, but Aqualung has been steadily in the top ten for the last four years, which makes it my first overall.

As for favourite style, I like a so many styles I can't choose.

My 2 most favourite songs ever are (starting at number 1): Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears, Call of the Wild by Midge Ure and Wind of Change by the Scorpions. Affirmation by Savage Garden, Protection by Massive Attack, Broken Wings by Mr. Mister, Unforgiven part 2 by Metallica Love Voodoo by Duran Duran and Sleeping with Ghosts by Placebo all get honourable mentions as well.

I caen't say, I'm afraid.

Just choosing one would be unfair to the others.

If I was forced for Music, I'd say Rock.

Anyway, I like almost everything from the 80's with a special love for the hair metal bands. Although I cant really say that I have a favourite song or genre, this week Im all about the scorpions, from january to march I was listening to Manowar all day long, I event went through a Phill Collins phase.

No I'm afraid we can't accept any of those responses. The three possible correct answers were Positively 4th Street (Bob Dylan; the Byrds version), (You Make me Feel Like a) Natural Woman (Carole King), and either While My Guitar Gently Weeps or Old Brown Shoe (both George Harrison; Beatles versions).

Folk rock all the way!! How can you go wrong combining old school country with old school rock 'n' roll?! However, a wise man once said "Man cannot live on folk rock alone, but by blues, classical, folk, country, and 60s-70s rock as well".

Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffet, Beatles, George Harrison, Jethro Tull, Bo Carter (risque blues man from the '20s or '30s), Carole King, the Band, the Eagles, Mary-Chapin Carpenter, James Taylor, Jackson Brown, Emmy-lou Harris, Cat Stevens, Gram Parsons, Willie Nelson, John Denver, John Lennon, Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Natalie Merchant, Simon & Garfunkle, Led Zeppelin, Hank Williams.

I feel as though I must have been a post-mature birth, by about 20 or 30 years. Probably banned from this thread too... oh well, there's still a couple of threads I'm still allowed into :smalltongue: ...for now:smallamused:

If I'm going to be proper about it:
Artist: 灰狼 艾斯卡尔
Album: 拥抱太阳的人
Song: 看到明天(维语)

On the off chance that peoples' browsers don't support viewing simplified Chinese:
Artist: Huilang Aisikaer
Album: Yongbao Taiyang de Ren
Song: Kan Dao Mingtian (Uygur version)

To my knowledge he has only the one album, and is apparently not terribly popular, which is unfortunate because I really like his work and it sounds better to me than Daolang (刀郎) (who is another Uygur singer, but with a wider popularity)

I also like a couple songs from the Russian group Slot (Слот). "2 Wars (2 войны)" and "Dead Stars (Мертвые Звезды)". It is entirely possible that I only like Slot because I don't speak Russian. I just rreally like the way they roll their Rs.

Pink Floyd is by far my favourite band ever. And, currently, the song I'm listening to most is "On the Turning Away".

I also love Muse and the Raveonettes.

Sonata Arctica is awesome. Not my favorite. But they are up there. I got into them after the meet-up in Johnson City, Tennessee a couple months ago when I was in the car with Zaragon driving somewhere and he had them on. Good stuff. I've got three of thier albums now.

As for my favorite song... right now I'd have to say Darkness and Starlight, pt. 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wemop9sn6R0) and pt. 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYZiqzbSbAA&feature=related).

As always, since I first heard that angelic voice, Evanescence is, by far, my favorite music.

Aside from that, I have a very eclectic taste; from rock to pop to classical to country, and just about everything in between. Music is good.

My favorite song has been Blind Guardian's Time Stands Still (At the Iron Hill) for quite some time now. It's one of their bigger and more epic songs. The lyrics are interesting (and as big a fan of BG as I am I realize their lyrics are sometimes a little off since they're not native english speakers). And it describes my favorite scene from Tolkien. When I saw the concert DVD open with this song I got goosebumps. Seeing it live was even crazier.

I'm pretty open to what I listen to, but as long as you can reasonably attach the word "rock" to the genre (that includes stuff like country-rock and pop-rock) then I'm pretty much going to like it. That said, music from the 60s and 70s are my absolute favourites, which makes me wish I was born 40 years earlier :smallannoyed:

My favourite band/artist changes pretty frequently, but there are a few bands that tend to stay right near the top. My favourite single band would have to be The Beatles. I'm not that much into listening to an album straight through (I'd rather play a bunch of songs from one artist on random) so choosing my favourite album is actually pretty easy: side one of The Beatles (also known as The White Album).

I cannot name one favourite song. I can't even name my top 5 favourite songs, which I used to be able to do. Some of my favourite songs, off the top of my head, are:

Across The Universe by The Beatles
All You Need Is Love by The Beatles
Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen
Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Like A Rolling Stone by Bob Dylan
Mr. Tambourine Man by Bob Dylan (Dylan's version, not The Byrd's neutered version)
Powederfinger by Neil Young
Tangled Up In Blue by Bob Dylan
While My Guitar Gently Weeps by The Beatles
Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

It was a triumph.
I'm making a note here,
Huge Success!
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

Aperture science...
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us
Except the ones who are dead.
But there's no sense crying
over every mistake,
You just keep on trying
till you run out of cake,
and the science gets done,
and you make a neat gun
for the people who are
Still Alive.

It's just so satisfying and fulfilling when you first hear it.

Best Bands:
1. Lacrimosa (newer stuff is better)
2. Sonata Arctica (older stuff is better)
3. Rammstein

Best Songs:
1. Malina - Lacrimosa
2. Ich Bin Der Brennende Komet - Lacrimosa
3. Stolzes Herz - Lacrimosa

Best Music: Metal and its subgenres
(clarification: most American metal tends to suck, only the European countries seem to be able to do it right)

Evanescence is a low grade copycat of female-lead metal bands.

Anyone else sad about Within Temptation's americanized newest album? Makes me sad, they were so awesome.

It's just so satisfying and fulfilling when you first hear it.

Satisfying? My initial reaction was shock, than disbelief, then "Oh [expletive], that [expletive] didn't die!", then "So there's going to be a sequel, isn't there", then raucous amusement. I live Still Alive, but after spending the entire game trying to keep someone from killing me, hearing that person cheerfully informing me that while I'm dying she'll be still alive is NOT satisfying.
