One of the users on the thread in question had an avatar hosted on a misconfigured web server that was initiating a challenge response from all viewers of pages where the avatar was displayed. I've modified the user's profile and sent them a message asking them to fix it.

might, tho, pop ups and pop unders are achieved by Javascript, and you can't embed javascript into an IMG tag. Well, I suppose you can, but the board software generates the IMG tags, and it doesn't.
