I just noticed something: I have been on this forum several years. Lots of people on this forum I admire joined around the same time, or a little later.
This makes me feel all warm and happy inside.

Post things that make you just go "Damn, I'm that awesome? I never knew"

And then someone will come, and totally slay your ego.

Ego? Ego slaying?

Hurrhhmmm... That sounds familiar.

Also, I reckon the bragging thread could fill this space, style o' thing... Just sayin'...

First thing that comes to mind was a Warsong Gulch game I was in a couple years ago. The horde group was running our flag through midfield. The carrier had four guys escorting him. I slipped into their path alone, stunned the flag carrier, and managed to kill him and return the flag. I then bowed to the other four and promptly fell over dead. A friendly druid had watched from stealth about 20 yards away and told me "dude, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen".

People tell me I have an Ego.

I have nothing to brag about. I have no reason to be proud.

But I'm still apparently going to act like I'm better than you.

And here I thought I tried my damnest to be a submissive, servile wretch.

well, I remember once jumping through a window, kinfing the sniper inside, jumping into the plaza below and killing five dudes with my handgun, then pulling out the G3 and shooting 2 more US marines, then I tossed a random grenade and got +40 points, then I ran outside and made a car explode, killing two enemies.

oh, did I mention I was playing Call of Duty?

Maybe you should try being arrogant and you're be submissive?

But, ego is not a dirty word (http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=mkMvpQ50gvI).

I find I lack self-confidence, yet I enjoy telling people I have an ego the size of a small planet. That part of my brain has its own gravity field.

See, I think it stems from the fact that I am utterly horrible at small talk. And thus end up talking about myself.

I'm, universally loved on this forum. Mostly because nobody knows/cares about me. :smallfrown:

What happened Collin?

Were you not hugged enough as a child?

Were you not hugged enough as a child?

I'm inclined to say too much.
Another side effect that could have: I'm used to high levels of physical closeness. This unnerves my friends at times. I should really get around to rooting out potential candidates for designated "Hugs and more whenever"-man.

Oh? That's impressive. You've been on the forum a long time, eh? :smalltongue:

Barring the whole, "put-into-remission-in-under-two-weeks," thing, I find that being on a hanging-out basis with a band as pretty badass. >_>

I have finally figured out the things I'm good at:
1. Research.
2. Finding good gifts for people.
3. ...awww, I've forgotten the 3rd one :smallfrown:

I've been slowly developing a sixth sense about free food. It's gotten to the point where I can literally eat a meal for free for at least four days a week.

Just over the past two weeks, I've been to four school-or-church-sponsored cookouts, four free meals, and a midnight pizza party.

I don't even try to find 'em half the time. Seriously.

Heh, no thanks. I'm already good at that sort of thing. One time I went over to a friend's, and I was going to make some macaroni, but there wasn't any milk. Well, I walked over and asked one of his neighbors, and after a bit of talking, I managed to get a glass of milk and a whole pizza.

Okay, boosting Egos...

Ego Slayer: You strike me as a very kind and well-rounded young lady. Also, I want to say you're a good photographer or something like that, but I can't recall why. Possibly a you thread thing? I dunno.

Serp: You are a fantastic artist and one of my favorite people around here. You always seem to be going out of your way to be nice to people around here. I wish you the best with your depression thread problem stuffs.

Rawhide: You are my second favorite mod here. Does that count as an ego boost or not?

Collin152: Your name would be awesome if it weren't spelleds like A HEATHEN. ONE L YOU HEATHEN, LEST I SMITE THEE Ahem.

Fax Celestis: Wherever you are, come back. We miss you.

Lord Fullbladder, Master of Goblins: Best name/sig I've seen in a while!

Bor: You're the most Bor-like person I've ever met. I can't compliment you any higher than by associating you with yourself.

EDIT: Oh dip! I'm supposed to boost my ego? Well, okay.

Ocato: Hey buddy, how's it going?
Ocato2: *in a dopey voice* Not bad, your girlfriend was pretty good in bed last night.
Ocato: WHAT?!?! YOU KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF HER YOU SON OF A--- *chokes ocato2*

I don't like this name.
Everything sounds like it.

I fully intend on changing it.

I'm still not completley sure what to.

My ego is relatively healthy.

I wrote a part of a story I've been considering, the bit where one of the main characters gives a pre-battle inspirational speech to the army before they go to war, and I paraphrased it for my friend, adding quotes to illustrate, and she said just the quote snippets were inspiring.

The whole speech, just for those I've now made curious:smallbiggrin::
Well, I guess this is it. No regrets. No final goodbyes. No time for any of that now. Only one question left: Are we going to make it out of here alive? The answer is: I don’t know. I’ve never seen you fight, I’ve never seen any of you in battle before. I don’t know.
Yes, this is a suicide mission. Yes, we’re the last ones standing. Yes, we’ve got to hold out on these suckers for one last battle, ‘coz after this either they’ve won or we have. And yes, we’re outnumbered. And I’m not here to tell you it’s all going to be OK, that we’re all going to live, ‘coz someone’s gotta die. Right here. Right now. Many someones. And we, we few, we’ve got the advantage of the terrain, but it ain’t much.
People today are going to die. Why? Not for honour. Not for glory. Maybe for their families. But mainly because a king told them to fight. And I ain’t going to ask anything else of anyone here, ‘coz I wouldn’t ask anything else of anyone.
But we are brave. We will stand here today, and we will fight. Because if you’re going to do something, you do it as good as you bloody well can, y’hear? We are brave because we are still standing here, and we will fight. And I don’t know if there are any rewards or medals in Heaven, but I swear, if we don’t make it out of this fight, I will personally, with my own hands, make a medal with whatever I can find for every single man in this army that died with me. Because any man who dies like this bloody deserves it. And I believe any man who comes out of this fight, wounded or not, with the enemy’s blood on him has done his duty and more, and if he ain’t meeting us all in heaven I don’t know what’s going to get him there.
Come on, then. Show ‘em the real meaning of a last stand.

I enjoy the fact that most people find me distant and odd, and that when the few that try to reach out to me do so, I automatically up the ante and shrink back even more.

Yea, I is all island like and stuff.

There are notable differances between these threads.

And Rawhide seems to have no problem with both of them existing.

My ego has been described as "taking up space roughly equal to the area enclosed by the martian orbit." So spoken by my best friend, and he was being nice. Its bad enough my girlfriend has to carry a pin so that I can pass through doorways.

Not helped by ability to get stuff done in the face of incredible incompetence, my ability to get along with just about any group, and my ability to earn people's trust. Tis a fun life, with plenty to go around. Anyone want to share?

Getting a You win the Internet remark after a post generally makes me pleased. Feeling does not last long though. And it does not happen often.
