View Full Version : Whats with the modifying?

Alot of the times I modify, I will try and cross something out, and instead of the words being in-between the , the strike symbol get sent to the end of the post. Ex.:

BlahblahwefrteyuwfdsBlahBlahYatatatatatawhatever.

I post that. When I go to modify it to cross it out, this happens:

BlahblahwefrteyuwfdsBlahBlahYatatatatatawhatever.

Why does this happen?

it just does. I could explain it, but it's technical and boring.

You know, right, that the first bracket has to be on the left side of the text you want struck through?

That's what he's talking about, I think. The tags go together at the end rather than around the text. It's happened to me, too.
Try highlighting from left to right and not right to left. It works better for some reason.

It's supposed to be like this: [ s ]Blahblahblahwords[ / s ]

I never have a problem with it because I just type in the codes myself.

As do I. Interestingly, I always failed to have any of my tags work with highlighting, and just assumed that one had to type them themself (or press the button and then type between them). I use Firefox, if it matters.

Yes, it matters, though I've no idea why. When I'm in Firefox it never works, when I'm in IE, it's about 70/30 successful.

I just use the delete key to wipe stuff out. 100% success rate so far.

Why would you use the stikethrough anyway, it doesn't actually delete.

We use the strikethrough to say nasty things indicate that we've changed something and what it was previously.

I thought one of the rules disallowed that, something about saying

"I'd say nasty things about poster X, but that would get me banned"

Was the same as saying those things directly so you got a ban.

Indirect Flaming? Is that the term?

No, you cannot use strikeout to say nasty things about someone, I just inserted "say nasty things" as what I hoped would be a humourous example. Strikeout has been put to good use on some Play by Post games.

Oh, sorry. I'm not a subtle person so it tends to miss me entirely.

The rule you are thinking of is the Mega C ulpa rule, which is saying, "I know this is breaking the rules, but..." and going on to break the rules. That earns you two OFFICIAL WARNINGS, three earns you a ban
