Not true. For the most part, it's just a timesink, but it can actually be an excellent way to keep in touch with people that you don't live remotely close to (for example, for me, people in Asia).

I was thinking a colour-code system, in which a line would be the colour corresponding to the colour assigned the crusher, and a mutual crush having a different colour at each end. For example, I (purple) crush on Amotis (blue) and Saithis (black), and Amotis (blue) and Jibar (pink) crush on me. The line between me and Saithis would be purple, the one between me and Jibar would be pink, and the one between myself and Amotis would be blue at my end and purple at his. But arrows work too, and take up fewer colours...

DD, I don't know whether it'd be possible in this situation, but family trees normally have a particular system that automatically signifies sibling/parent/cousin/whatever relations, like this (http://www.lauraplantation.com/family_tree.jpg). It'd be cool to have one set up to actually delienate family groups...

Why not just tell them? The worst they can do is reject you, and then...depending on how they do this, they may not have been worth the affection in the first place.
