Inkscape Question

I have a question about Inkscape.

When I create something, like a grey beard or whatever, and put it on top of a black face, it blends. How can I fix this?

I'm not sure what you mean, but if your saying that it doesn't show up, try moving the layer with the beard to the front.

I mean, like a purple coat mixes with a grey scarf, and where the objects overlap, it forms a grayish purple. I want the grey coat to be visible there, not the grayish purlple mixture.

In all likelyhood the opacity of the object isn't set to 100%. If you look at the color settings you'll see a 4th bar for "alpha" make sure that's all the way to black.
