Help with Japanese name!

I'm currently writing an essay about Ran(the film by Akira Kurosawa) and I don't which name is the main character's first, his full name is Hidetora Ichimonji, but I don't know if that's western order or Japanese order. I presume it's the western order.

From my (limited) experience, Ichimonji sounds like a family name. Were you watching it in English or in Japanese with English subtitles?

Ichimonji was the clan name, Hidetora was the character's given name.

It is an awesome film, I bought Yojimbo and The Hidden Fortress yesterday but haven't had a chance to watch them yet.

It's japenese with English subtitles for the record, I'm not even sure Kurosawa movies were dubbed.
