Back in the mid 80s or so, Dragon Magazine had a cut-and-assemble castle called Old Stoney or Great Stoney or some other Adjective Stoney. It was a very clever layout, octagonal or so with a honeycomb of interior walls to keep breaches from immediately giving besiegers access.

Does anybody else remember this? If so, are there photos or maps ya'll might have available?

According to my Google search and THIS (http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/periodicals/dragon.html) site, Great Stoney Castle was in Dragon #86 from June 1984. You can find copies of it on various websites for sale and/or download, but I can't find an actual picture or layout or anything.

Cool, thanks!

What are you Googling? I'm not coming up with useful hits, your Google-fu seems to be stronger than mine.

ETA: Yeah, all of my results specify that the insert is missing.

I started just Googling "Stoney Castle Dragon Magazine" or something like that, and found the link I posted above. After that, I just looked up Dragon Magazine #86.

There are some sites that appear to offer some not-quite-legit downloads of the complete issue, and there's a shop on eBay that has THIS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TSR-AD-D-DRAGON-MAGAZINE-86-VGC_W0QQitemZ120298743418QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3 286.m20.l1116) available. Also, the issue is probably available on the Dragon Magazine Archives CD-ROM (http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Magazine-Archive-Pc/dp/B00002EIWS) they put out several years ago, but I don't know if you'll be able to get your hands on that easily or cheaply. (Legally, at least.) Amazon seems to also have some copies (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0394537890/ref=dp_olp_2), too, but you should contact the sellers to see if the issue still has the parts intact.

EDIT: THIS (http://www.theherofactory.com/magazines.html) shop also seems to have the issue available for $10.95.

Yeah, I had that issue. I gave the castle part to a friend of mine, since I don't have the patience or fine dexterity for models or assembly of any kind. He got it mostly assembled, and we used it in a couple of our games.

Do you remember it being as clever as I do? In my 20-year-old memories it's a very smart design and worth borrowing for current story telling. Does that mesh?

Yep, it was a very nice design...
