Varsuuvius/Batman does not slay the villain/Joker. A trial takes place. Hundreds of people likely die in the meantime. The villain/Joker probably goes free.
But somehow, through the power of love, anime's gift to the comics code, noone is killed, the villain is convicted and the current moral and ethical standards are upheld as being the best and brightest.
By no means am I a relativist but some of you should take perspective and not run off with it and hide it beneath a pot of gold.
There are absolute laws and relative laws. Murder is wrong, killing is not. One should try to avoid spilling blood. The party will suffer for their rash judgment, but will likely be mostly vindicated in time.
