View Full Version : Boat layouts (Gametable)

I'm wondering if anybody around has something that one can use as an underlay for Gametable. The campaign I'm running will soon take to the sea, and I plan on having quite a bit of naval combat.

If nothing already specially made for gametable, a simple lay out of a D&D boat would work well (Preferably with a grid). I can probably convert it myself.

Any help for this odd request will be greatly appreciated <3

What sort of boat? I found the deckplans for the Titanic earlier... My next CoC campaign takes place at sea, too. I'm doing a lot of research into 1920's ocean liners, and a bit of research netted me the floor-by-floor blueprints for the whole ship...

I don't know anything about Gametable, but I am pretty sure Paizo should have stuff for you. They had a ship with grids and everything for the Savage Tide adventure path, I believe. Or, at least, my DM when we ran ST had a ship map thingy.

There are some here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mwa/archiveall) - look under Stormwrack.

If you need actual ships there is a collectible game called Pirates. You buy these card packs (like magic or YU-GI-OH for instance), and you these little cardboard ships of varying ship classes. Then you try to gather as much loot/gold as you can before the other guy does.

The game is Ok, but what caught my attention is the potential for a pirate or naval themed dnd game using these little ships for large scale battles.

The cards/ships are actually styrene, not cardboard. They're pretty good quality if you're careful with them.

Alright, after a lot of math and steady mousework, I've managed to cut out the shapes from the stormrack maps and line them up with the grid in gametable. If anyone wants these, give me a shout. <3

If by ate it you mean you probably saved it without typing .grm or whatever it uses. If so then the file you saved it as is just sitting there, ready to be renamed.

ahhh, I've never had the opportunity to hold them, so I was sorta guessing that they were high quality cardboard. Anyway I stand corrected.

I've actually been in a game that used them like that, it died quickly because of scheduling issues but it was pretty fun when it lasted

I'm wondering if anybody around has something that one can use as an underlay for Gametable.Gametable uses standard graphics files, correct? If so you can find a variety of maps on Four Ugly Monsters (http://www.fouruglymonsters.com/index.php?option=com_docman&Itemid=89), Maptool (http://gallery.rptools.net/main.php), and Dunjinni (http://www.dundjinni.com/info/gallery.htm). In general, search for mapping tools, even if you don't want to use them yourself many have freely available user created content.

Don't forget to put random stuff onto the deck if they are boarding after destroying parts of the ship. So many DMs just ignore that.

It is lines like this that make me sad I'm not in your CoC game :(
