I know there have been threads on this before, and i searched long and hard for them, but I couldn't find them! so I'm making a new one.

I'm going to playing a bard, and the idea is to have a different song to represent each of my abilities. I'll have a laptop or ipod next to me while playing. which songs should I use? any suggestions would be welcome.

I'm bad with specific songs, so I'll just give you genres.
Inspire Courage-90's rock, modern country, heavy metal
Countersong-depends on what you're fighting
Fascinate-Catchy, annoying music that people love. Katamari Damaci, that sort of thing
Inspire Competence-Jeopardy theme, inspirational country
Inspire Greatness-Heavy Metal. Always.
Suggestion-No clue, sorry
Song of Freedom-Listen to campaign commercials. You hear that inspiration, we will prevail-type music? Use that
Inspire Heroics-post 9-11 country music

None of this is certain, but it's what I plan to use.(of course, it's a PBP for me, so I have time to think about it and find it before linking in the OoC thread)

Hah, never can decide with something like that...

But for inspire courage and such, some solid power(ish) metal will always be probably best choice. :smallamused:

See: Time stnads still (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iWDR_ncgqwg)

For fascinate, some evanescent, "misty", possibly woodwind sound would be best.

Know, I'm sure that I've heard something suitable, but of course can't recall anything.

Or something like that (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LLIBbv2sIx0)? Not best, but fits.

What instrument does your bard play? I'm sort of planning on doing this someday, but when I do, I'm going to make sure all the music is period appropriate and played on the bard's instrument-of-choice.

Well, this can be kinda difficult, as most music, also historical is after all played at few instruments, and bard obviously has only one (yeah, there are complete solos too, but still).

Although if you know some historical music reenactor... :smallwink:

tribute...It has just the right feeling of epic-ness (guitar song..not the normal lyrics)?

otherwise... something epic... I wouldn't go for funny songs.

Blind Guardian is most certainly gamer music, and they actually have some very bardy songs.

Obligatory:

Nightfall is quite appropriate, would sound nice redone on a lute:

I trust you can do your own youtubings, though I suggest Valhalla for good last stand music.

One of the main songs I use for my bard/warlock/occult muse is this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK1bi4emEkk). It's charming and darker sounding then your typical bard music and gives me something of a weird occult medieval tune...

This has probably just been completely useless by the standard of the original post, but I just felt like showing it.

Rickroll is a small fry - Trombe overrode the end of the world.

Was Hammerfall mentioned yet? Many of their songs are very fitting for lifting your allies' spirits and making them push themselves harder in battle. Same with Rhapsody, except that most of their later songs are a bit too goth.
