Almost-Epic One-Shot Help Required [3.x]

So, I figure for my birthday party I'll DM a supposed-to-be-epic 18th level campaign.

The only problem is that I've never really seen anything above 8th level, so I don't really know much, besides that I'm nerfing magic some.

Anybody have suggestions for good monsters, or ideas (like how you fit a plot into a one-shot)?

In general I would say you could get a involved dungeon crawl(one with plot to get them in and through the dungeon). Generally I find one or two of the free wizards adventures (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/oa/20030530b) will take up one full session(5-7 hours), though it depends on the group to a large extent. My normal group is pretty slow, so it might take your group less time.
