I've been thinking, there really should be a funny little mini-strip where the OotS marvel at how the page couldn't be found.

Example of the depressed webserver here:

Yarrr, I think this be an Issue for the Boards! Avast, mateys, board issues ahoy!

Though, yeah, one-panel OotS 404 page would be really cool. :-)

I seem to remember that if you tried to view a comic that hadn't been posted yet (by changing the comic number in the URL), you would get an amusing picture of Belkar chewing you out for trying to read ahead. However, I just tried it again, and it doesn't seem to do this anymore.

Could this come back, please? :)

Also, yes, a custom page for general 404 errors would be cool.

It still exists. But only if you try to search for non existant image files. If you put in non existant strip number into the strip script, it will pull the most recent strip. It's always been that way.

Ah, that's it. Thanks.

But typing in the future number at the end of the oots script was how I found it... :'(

I thought that /404 was quite amusing. I think we will have to find a reason to make one up for our web page. Cool idea!

I love that Belkar is part of Order of the Stick. It gives Rich an abusive voice. He can call his readers "Dork" and get away with it, which he wouldn't be able to do without Belkar :)

I have a character that's become a female version of Belkar, unintentionally...I started playing her as irrational and irrate in certain areas because of her low wisdom score. And now I can't help mentioning how close she is to Belkar.

Really, I enjoy the Belkar message, too. My friend was showing me a picture of a comic that wasn't showing for me for some reason. He then moved onto the next one and found the message, and just had to show me as well. I haven't gone back to look since then, but it made me giggle. And I don't giggle at comics easily.

So, this never ended up happening?

The picture of Belkar was used for 404 errors for a while. Then Erfworld came along, and it got changed, presumably because a boring error message is worse than one that only applies to 90ish% of the site.

Well, it's still a good idea. So pheh.

Thats the second biggest thread-necromancy I've ever seen!
