So I am a fan of the hex grid and would like to know if there is any easy way to use it in a play-by-post forum game.

Also, what is your experience with hex grids?

If I were using a hex grid in a PbP, I'd just find a good hex grid (like THIS ONE (http://www.thealmightyguru.com/Humor/Inventions/Images/Grid-Hex.gif)) and then just do it like my PbP DM is doing here:

Talis moves into the castle and deals a strong blow to one of the soldiers, his blade biting through leather and flesh before burying itself into another's chest, as the paladin goes to aid his companions towards the south.

Talis's first attack misses, but the action-point attack hits. Both So3 and So2 drop.

It would have been So3's turn, but he is currently a bit dead.

Current Status:
Soldiers 1, 2, and 3 are dead.
Archer is bloodied.

Parmenides's turn.

Should work out just the same. If people need to be specific about anything, it's a bit difficult to give coordinates, but I guess you could use landmarks or something.

I don't actually have any experience with hexes, so that might not work for some reason.
