Hi there, I am playing an Artificer, and I was wondering if it is possible to emulate a feat with Use Magic Device to create a specific magical item (like a wand of Empowered Magic Missile, or a Rod of Greater Chain Spell)
If it is possible, then what are the rules?

I believe the artificer's crafting ability explicitly forbids emulating a feat- you must possess the feat to use it.
Which isn't a big deal, since having those feats lets you use them on items.

Maybe your DM could let you rent a Metamagic Rod for however long you need to craft your items.

But if I want to create said-metamagic rod?

But if I want to create said-metamagic rod? You need access to the feat to create the rod, which is why you would rent one during the process.
