The City of Brass

[Lupy]

The famous city on the elemental plane of fire, built entirely from brass. At it's center sits a tower the extends higher than any mortal mind can comprehend, and in the top room, sits Ignus the fire god on his charcoal throne.

[Lupy]

Lupy steps into the chamber and bows low to Ignus.

[Quinsar]

Tel is somewhere.... Somehow. Readying for battle.

[Lupy]

Probably. Filler.

[Lupy]

Things haven't gone well the last two days for either side...

IGNUS: He's lost the outer planes, and the Material planes will be next. The plane of fire is swarming with foreign elementals, and at the rate they are currently destroying his kingdom, he will be a forgotten god by the end of the year.

LUPY: Lupy's frantic about saving his god and his church. He hasn't left his office in 18 hours, pouring over a book he brought back with him from Hell...

ARCHPRELATE: And Lupy's second in command is plotting to usurp control of the church from Lupy and disband the council of Bishops. He is backed bythe council of Prelates.

THE INVADERS: Well, Terus, Aeris, and Aquan are pretty satisfied with themselves, having driven their older brother out of all but one of his holdings. They have had about eleven new exarchs each in the last few days, Lupy has been challenging them to single combat and massacring them. A few of the gods are worried about his apparent combat prowess...

Catherine is teleported here, presumably outside the city sheild. She looks around.

[Lupy]

She sees a mountain about half a mile from the city walls, swarming with elementals of every type but fire. She should be about 100 feet from the city walls, which are a quarter mile tall and made of brass a 16th of a mile thick. It is swarmed with fire elementals, weapons unponderable to mortal minds, and a tower so high that no mortal, and few gods, can comprehend it's height. At it's top sits Ignus, and a pillar of fire stretching through the sky.

Cat walks to the wall and pulls a grapple out of a bag. And yes, there is enough spliced rope in there to scale the wall.

[Lupy]

There is a fall of fire, force, and divine rage guarding the walls.

Who goes there?

[FireFox]

Cat blinks. Colonel Smith, of the Vulpanian army, here as liason...

[Lupy]

Enter then.

A gap appears in the wall and shield.

[FireFox]

Cat stows the grapple, adjusts her pack, and calmly enters.

[Lupy]

It shuts after she goes through. With a 2 nanometer clearance of her body.

An elemental tries to take her to the tower.

[FireFox]

She follows him coolly.

[Lupy]

In the bottom room, two fire elementals are engaged in a heated debate.

Heh. Puns. :smalltongue:

She looks around for anythng resembling an authority figure.

[Lupy]

An abbot is polishing a shield in the corner.

[FireFox]

Cat goes up to him with an annoyed sigh. You there, what's the situation?

[Lupy]

The gods have chosen to play a great game of chess, and we are going to be their pawns. :smallsigh: Anything else?

Bloody hell man, I don't give a **** about the bloody causes behind this petty dustup! Is this underseige at the moment, are the enemy attacking, are they mustering their forces prior to a charge, or you about to counterattack...? :smallsigh:

[Lupy]

We are under siege, they have yet to attack, and the Archbishop will want to speak to you.

Where is he then? Maybe he'll know where the bloody buggers are... :smallannoyed::smallsigh:

[Lupy]

Lupy appears in the room, holding a mace with Earthy blood on it.

Another one bites the dust. :smallamused: Someone get me Troop movement charts!

You! You look like you have a tendency to be competent! Cat strides towards him twin swords lightly bouncing off her calves. I'm here from the Vulpanian Army. Tobias wants you lot to stay in your fortified position and let me harass what I canoutside the walls.

[Lupy]

They don't have much of a command structure at the moment, what does he have in mind?

Raiding sorties on any group small enough for me to wipe out before more show up. I didn't see any around the walls, are they all in that mountain? Cat eyes him up and down with a small smile.

[Lupy]

About ten million of them yes. They have us outnumbered five to one at the moment.

Hmm, I thought Tobias knew the scale this war was on. How many men do you have?

They all got wiped out in my last action by that f****** Cardinal. Didn't really feel like waiting for new ones to get trained. I'm just here to take a looksee and to plot where Toby should bring in the main body. Of course, if there were any small parties say, watching the back of this city I would like to see if I could take them...

[Lupy]

There were a few hundred marching trying to get some sort of hellish looking metal thing up to the wall, could you stop them? It's not worth out the troops over some giant screw, I shouldn't think.

Gee, a battering ram or tunneling device is hardly worth the time... She winks at him and then heads out.

[Lupy]

Someone! Find that book we got from Amricuh and look this thing up!

Cat laughs as she tries to leave the city and find this group.

[Lupy]

Anyone can tell her where. It's obviously a mechanical drill, but Lupy and his people know nothing about technology.

[FireFox]

Cat doesn't either, she just can make the inference. As she's walking, her right leg buckles in pain and she almost falls over, having to lean against something to stay upright. Damn you Cardinal... She takes another step then passes out with a cry of pain.

((Deadtime...))

[Lupy]

There is a 600 foot long blackhawk flying over the city towards the mountain. About 400 feet from the unnatural formation it explodes, and Lupy, watching from the tower, shouts, NO!!!! He casts true ressurection at it, but Terus cast a soul destroying spell at the living chopper...

Lupy looks about ready to cry.

[Leigh]

Leigh rushes in, her eyes wide.
"Wuzzgoinon?"

Cat has fallen in the streets. Looks like she's having a seizure.

Tobias and a team of a half dozen appear outside the city's walls. Lupy! What kind of sheild does that mountain have!? They start unpacking some kind of device...

[Lupy]

None, they're just shooting us down before we get in, all they have is an antiteleportation field.

[Leigh]

Get your army ready for mop up work! Tobias cuts off as he starts casting a spell. The other men are setting up a long metal tube.

[Lupy]

The wall opens. And half a million fire archons march out.

Tobias is still chanting, under strain and exposed in the open.
The other guys are placing the device (antimatter bomb) in an Antimagic shell.
Cat is crying on the ground of some street in the city.

[Lupy]

No one will notice her, elementals and archons don't have pain, they ignore her and keep marching to the gates...

A young cleric sees her, casts minor healing, and keeps jogging for the gate, Keep moving, the Archbishop himself will lead the attack!

Cat rolls out of the way then, still contorted in helpless pain.

Tobias finishes his spell, and the magical rail gun magnetically flings the bomb towards the mountain... Needless to say, this kind of device should make the Hiroshima bombing look like a puny mortaring...

[Lupy]

It hits the mountain and shoots it into space. Just as about half of the invading army teleports into the gap in the field that Lupy's troops are pouring out of. A melee of godly proportions ensues.

EDIT: An acolyte stops next to Cat, Is something wrond Miss? Bear in mind he is an archon.

It would kind of just completely destroy it, not blowing it as a solid mass into space...

Tobias crosses his arms and mutters about losing a perfectly good antimatter bomb. The rest of his men just stare at the bigass explosion.

Yeah, they're about 50 feet from a battle between two armies of about four million troops...

It would be cooler to just have all the matter in... a mile diameter be completely destroyed ya know... :smallwink:

Tobias walks away from the battle and his men pack up.

[Lupy]

There is a swath sliced about a 16th of a mile wide through the battle as Lupy beelines for the enemy Cardinals and Bishops...

Tobias, after moving away, turns to observe. Umbris appears behind the enemy's lines and starts trying to cut through their back.

[Lupy]

Most of them are grunts. Lupy is under a bubble of fire smashing two high ranking clerics faces together, he looks insane...

[FireFox]

Umbris continues cutting a bloody swath to where the leaders are.

[Lupy]

Lupy regains his calm, Father, let me kill this one please. He glares at the hooded figure in blue, doing nothing seemingly...

Umbris is going after the NCOs and other company commanders...

[Lupy]

All of them are powerful Paladins, one of whom has a sword of light, built to fight shadow creatures.

[FireFox]

Lightning comes out of the sky to strike that one, assuming Tobias can use his magic here.

[Lupy]

He can. Ignus is walking slowly out of the city. The water elementals begin to boil.

Lupy teleports to be behind Ignus.

[FireFox]

Tobias looks like he's seriously considering bringing in Alex and his Godslaying sword, just to be an ass.

[Lupy]

Terus has joined the field, and Lupy is looking for Umbris and Tobias.

... the diety I personally pay homage to is Civiron, who probably coudn't care less. Boudica, Goddess of Life wouldn't want to do anything about this at all... Uh... I might be able to get some help from Pyr, who is like your Ignis, but different and from another universe... maybe...
But after Umbris killed Alex's attackers and gave him his blade back, he became free to go kill deities for you.

A giant pit, hidden under the magma would catch them, they never expect such things.

Tobias laughs as he tries to make said trap with his magic. I used that same idea on a Demigod once. Admittedly, he seemed like he was the demigod of Pride as well as Strategy, but...

It was a much more elaborate set up then "hole in the ground", but yes, I managed to play off of his arrogance and the fact he was used to fighting other demigods to annhilate his army and then killed him temporarily. Good thing it had; the Fire Lords were about ready to execute me if I they didn't see results. :smallsigh: He finishes the spell.

I will confess that my gods rely on their followers for logical thought. I've killed so many of their high ranking clerics this should be easy.

Ignus is melting Terus at the moment, and the ammount of power coming from it is enough to kill anyone nearby.

Will your God listen if you tell him to let the other one hurt him and then fall back, past the pit...?

[Lupy]

He will, but there are three of them and one of him, even on his home plane he can't hope to fight them without us...

The gods have shrunk to be about ten feet tall, and are hitting each other with little suns of force...

Oh good, so it looks like he's losing, so he decides to fall back (past the pit) to ostensibly regroup and prepare himself, and then we force them to not flank him and to pursue him straight past the pit... Tobias grins. Should I call in Alex to help with that plan then?

I like it. :smallamused: Lupy summons up a six foot long mace and sinks into his demigod form. A blazing angel actually, about 8 feet tall with golden wings.

Alex appears next to Tobias, on the right side of the Gods. Umbris produces two magical daggers and moves to the left. They wait for Ignis to fall back so they can keep the other Gods from circling around...

[Lupy]

Aquan has no power here, Lupy or Tobais could easily take a water god on the plane of fire, so she is merely watching from above. Aeris is trying to flanks Ignus on the far side when another, shorter god leaps at her and tackles her. Lupy shouts, No!!! But she cuts off his head with ease. Ignus is slowly dropping back.

Tobias attempts to creat a blast of wind to propel Alex up at the same time he casts a spell to blast Aeris with chain lighting. So Alex falling on her from above while she's being attacked on the side; being herded to the trap. Hopefully.

[Lupy]

The lightning distracts her long enough for Alex to land. Ignus is on the far side of the trap.

[FireFox]

Alex has his magical sword and attempts to slash through part of her and land so that she would have to go to the trap to flee him.

[Lupy]

Her left arm flies off and she falls in. As a concentrated 800 mph gust of wind should hit Alex.

[FireFox]

Alex will probably be picked up and hurtled away. Tobias attempts to catch him with his own wind magic.

Umbris is pretty much flitting around like a gnat on speed, trying to harass and drive Terus into the trap.

[Lupy]

800 mph would probably crush his chest cavity...

Terus swats at him, but he's big and slow.

Careful Umbris...

Lupy is clubbing a giant crab with his burning mace.

Always. Umbris has his shadow daggers which should feel about... oh, like being poked with twigs to Terus. He keeps trying to annoy the God enough to make it go after Ignis.

The healing will work.

Terus keeps moving towards Ignus, closer and closer to the pit...

Umbris keeps pushing. Tobias wildshapes into a Greater Salamander (Godzilla, but smaller and with lava) and shoots a long stream of fire at Terus.

[Lupy]

Tobias does... Absolutely nothing. He's fighting a fire god, magma won't do much...

Terus isn't much affected by Umbris, but he does swat at him...

[FireFox]

One, this blast is pure fire, not magma... two, the force of the blast was trying to knock Terus, the earth god, back.

Umbris leaps away, conjures a shadow spea and attempts to keep pressing Terus back.

[Lupy]

Earth gods don't move. He's attached to the ground.

Tobias then trips the spell to trap the Gods...

I meant... Never mind.

Terus falls in, and Aeris falls in as well, Aquan flickers away... Ignus unleashes and inferno of... well... godly proportions on them. Lupy joins in the fun, and an angel looking much like Lupy, but shorter, flaps over. Archprelate, good, give us a ha- :eek:

The Archprelate removes his spear from Lupy's gut. Lupy falls over sideways, and he stabs him again.

Umbris and Tobias are instantly there, the Sheikah attempting to stab the angel's face in with magical shadow blades while the Druid attempts to heal Lupy.

[Lupy]

Lupy is human, 100% human, not godly or elemental, and bleeding. The healing makes it worse, much worse. The archprelate ducks with amazing speed and tries to knock Umbris over with the shaft of the spear. There is a low roar from the pit.

[FireFox]

Umbris appears behind the archprelate and slashes out again.

Tobias uses his herbal healing kit and his knowledge of first aid to hopefully stop the bleeding.

[Lupy]

Well, Lupy's heart is punctured.

[FireFox]

Tobias begins a spell that should hopefully repair the heart. He is using natural magic as opposed to positive energy as in tradtional cure spells...

[Lupy]

It heals him, but he has already long since passed out from loss of blood. Terus is trying to get out of the pit.

The Archprelate is slashed, but tries to gore Umbris with the spear that may well have killed Lupy.

[FireFox]

It goes through Umbris, but his body is different than anything remotely normal... Umbris tries to quick stab the archprelate in the neck.

Alex is standing by the pit, blade ready.

Tobias casts a quick magical diagnosis to determine if Lupy's blood is compatible with his own. Er, I mean vice versa.

[Lupy]

Lupy's blood is A positive.

The Archprelate falls to his knees, the spear should freeze Umbris, literally.

Terus has his head out.

[FireFox]

Good, Tobias sets up a magical transfusion.

Umbris is frozen.

Alex attempts to plant the magical godwounding blade in it's head.

[Lupy]

The transfusion is fine. Serene rushes over in angelic form, dropping her pike.

The Archprelate tries to smash him.

He roars and punches at Alex. A greater god made of stone.

[FireFox]

Tobias takes the opportunity to quick blast the Archprelate with chainlightening. He's breathing heavily after he casts it.

Alex tries to throw himself backwards and dodge.

[Lupy]

Terus's arm grows to try to hit him.

The Archprelate's body arches and spasms, and then he heals himself. He leaves Umbris and tries to stop Serene from arriving. She has no weapon, but throws up a shield.

[Lupy]

The two armies clash, but Tobias and Alex may see the Bishops and Prelates fighting running battles to get there.

[FireFox]

Alex slashes out quickly. If this was ordianry rock the blade would do nothing, but the fact that this is a rock God means that the Vague Katti should be able to at least cause pain. Which is something Gods don't feel enough of if you ask me...

Tobias steps in front of the Arch Prelate and attempts to spray over 6 gallons of hydrochloric acid that will try to stick to his face/the part of the sheild in front of his eyes...

[Lupy]

Terus roars in pain and draws back, Ignus is making the Inferno burn hot enough to be giving Alex 2nd degree burns from 30 feet away.

He casts up a wall of fire, with boils it into the air. ((Remember, he's nearly as powerful as Lupy, and he learned every trick the Archbishop knew.)) He shoots a razor net at Tobias...

The Bishops are winning, but not by much.

[FireFox]

Remember, Tobias is also almost as powerful as Lupy, and pretty much spent his whole life perfecting these tricks. Fact of the matter is, Tobias has had a harder life then this guy. Well okay, not fact, but it's a reasonable assumption.

Tobias wildshapes into a mouse, runs under the net before it reaches him, and fires off his Super Flashbang spell right in front of the Archprelate. What this does is this: Light damage. Sonic damage. Blinds. Deafeness. Stuns/disorients.

Alex cries out and withdraws.

[Lupy]

The Archprelate falls to the ground. While there he shoots a lance out of his finger in a very Lupy-esque style through Serene's shield. It pierces her side and she collapses.

Two Prelates arrive on the scene, one shoots a massive Fireball at Toby, the other shoots lances of light at him. A bishop is not far behind, roaring with rage. ((Fire Giant Bishop))

How is he able to cast a spell when something louder then a sonic boom and brighter then the sun went off in his face...? Tobias wildshapes into a Lesser Salamander ((Like the small sized godzillas in the newish movie...)) and tkaes the hits. He tries to summon dire lions to tear those two apart.

[Lupy]

Reflex thing, it was luck that it hit her. Well, or not luck depending on how you look at it. The Prelates are fighting the lions when the fire giant arrives. He picks up a 2' by 2' rock and crush one's head. The other tries to run but suffers the same fate. YOU KILLED LUPY!!!

Ah, that makes sense. Tobias draws himself up and observes the whole of the battle before checking to see if some of his men can teleport in and grab Lupy.

[Lupy]

They can. The bishops are killing the prelates, when one of them recognizes Umbris and unfreezes him. Naturecalled and Shadowstalker! Get Greatflame to a healinghouse!

[FireFox]

No ****, dumbass. A squad of lancearmed Vulpanian soldiers and one mage appear and quickly attempt to teleport Lupy into... the Glade, for convenience.

Umbris joins into the battle after stretching, and Tobias checks on Alex and the Gods.

[Lupy]

Terus and Aeris are trapped in the pit. Ignus is missing, he's in Lupy's mind right now. The bishops have killed all the prelates, quite brutally actually, the rock attack looks tame compared to what one of the archons did to a prelate. The Archprelate's body has been crushed by Bishop Rockhappy, and Ignan troops are mopping up the resistance. Nothing worthy of distracting us from the glade.

Catherine is still here... For some reason. Mostly because she was here and had no way to leave...
