View Full Version : Halloween is here!!!

Well, it is for me, anyway. In fact, it was "here" in September.

Been doing haunted attractions for 12 years now, 5 years with the same company here in Vegas (Freakling Brothers), 2 years before that with an offshoot of theirs in the Bay Area (The Labyrinth, now defunct), 5 years before that as well.

So, what is everyone else doing for Halloween while I make like a character out of The Nightmare before Christmas? I assist with tech work, do about half the costuming for 50 characters, and I perform when we open (this Friday, 22 days total this month). That and I have a for-real day job on top of all that.

I have pictures! I won't clutter up the thread so I'll just post some Photobucket links.

Behold...The Circus of Horrors! I'm performing there this year. I am the apey-thing on the far left. Yes, that clown is actually 8 feet tall. This year we don't have him, we have one that breathes fire, instead.

Cast party from last year! I'd done enough, so I was lazy did a Crow costume. It's my second-laziest one.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v486/Coeloptera/?action=view&current=CIMG0538.jpg

My goodness! Look at the time! My as Pyramid Head from the Fetish and Fantasy ball last year. Photo's a bit overexposed. I may recycle this one some year since I've started working out a great deal more in the last 6 months.

This is oh...7 years ago now, I think. The aforementioned Labyrinth. Getting ready, then me in costume with my hideous animal feet.

So...what's everyone else doing?

I don't think I've done anything for Halloween in a few years. Except robbing the occasional small child of their candy, but not much besides that :smalltongue:

My plans for Halloween, if I'm in the house, are as follows.

1: Dress up in Viking kit.

2: Put on chainmail, if I have it finished by then.

3: Pick up the nastiest looking authentic weapon possible.

4: Tell ANY kids that come to the house to leave, now. In some sort of weird, cookie-monster voice. When they don't, close the door. If they live the "trick" thing up, as some have been known to do, they'll find out exactly how fast someone can run in chainmail, and how terrifying it is to have a battle-ready Viking chasing them down. All in the spirit of Halloween... :smallamused:

Alternatively, get drunk with friends. This may be easier, and does not require chainmail finishing.

If I'm not in the house, I'll be at a reenactors market buying me an axe.

I need to get the following :

Green face paint
Some seaweed / green cloth to put in my hair
Green hairspray
A pink tutu
a sparkly cardigan
some big chunky boots
A torch
Some baileys
A shoe.
SOME WATAHCOLOURS

I am going to have the most idiotic costume ever.

No.. no.....no... no one needs to see your mangina Aziraphale. :smallyuk: :smalltongue: But where're your watercolours?

Old Greg is one of the more horrifying characters from the Mighty Boosh.

I wanna go as the Penguin. Top hat and tail coat! And umbrella!

...Can you dress up Ryan as Old Gregg for halloween?:smalltongue:

I've never actually done Halloween. It's not a particularly big thing around here.

Best. Costume. Ever.

But...I'm honestly not sure what I'm going to do this year. Too old to go trick-or-treating, too unpopular to be invited to any parties, not mean enough to pick on little kids or smash mailboxes.

As far as costumes go, I'm considering having me and one of my friends dress up as Solid Snake and Liquid Snake: I go around in a bandanna and respond to everyone with "Metal Gear?" while he loudly curses my dominant genes. :smalltongue:

I'm making a Pyramid Head costume, as well as a sword. I'm lining the edge of the sword with tin foil so it actually makes a cool noise as I drag it behind me.

All Halloween Day I'm gonna be walked up and down the halls of my dorm, just staring at people... XD

I seriously need to dress up this year. I've skipped it the past two years, but I seriously need to get my Halloween on in 2008, or I'll go nuts.

Hmm... Yes, it is about time to work on a costume, isn't it?

Bleh. I always want to get a cool costume, but I usually run out of time/money. It doesn't help that Mom hates the holiday. I haven't been allowed to go trick-or-treating since I was fourteen. :smallfrown:

I was thinking of dressing up as a red shirt this year, and figure out some way to spectacularly die half way through the school day. A condom filled with dyed-red corn syrup will be needed...

People will be more concerned when they find a condom containing traces of what appears to be blood.

I need to find an australian school boy outfit, and a gibson SG guitar, that's red. To all AC/DC fans, you should know what this is.

I expect to dress up as something inspired by Lee Woo Sung.

This is probably going to be my last halloween to dress up on for a few years because I'm moving soon. No local friends = no fun on Halloween.

Ah, Halloween, my favorite time of the year! My wife and I throw a party every year, and we usually get a fair turnout of revelers.

This year, I'm doin' it and not taking my own laziness for an answer. I've 28 days left to lose another five pounds, and then I can dress up as the almighty Val Hallen (http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w219/mwellenstein/Sci_Fan/valhallen01si9.gif), the Viking God of Rock! (http://fridays.toonzone.net/dexter-justice.html).

Things I need
Long Blonde Wig: check!
"V" Circlet: consult Ace Hardware
Flying V Guitar: consult Craigslist, otherwise cobble something together from plywood and fuscia paint
Ab-baring black shirt: campus resale shop + pair of scissors
Studded wrist-wraps and belt: consult some place in the mall where mallrats shop. Dare I enter a Hot Topic? This will require bravery!
Yellow boots: Wrap old boots in yellow duct tape, make sure to leave a slit down the back so that they can be removed.
Pure Rock: check!

I'm a bit of a lazy bugger, so I'll probably just do the Ninja thing again. Black shirt, black pants, black belt and a t-shirt ninja mask.

If I decide to get off my arse, spend some money and actually make a costume, maybe a Witch Hunter of some sort...

Awesome. Just make sure you know how to play "Thunderstruck", 'cuz someone will ask.

I want to go as the Jack Nickelson Joker. And hide behind trees and whisper "Why so serious" at little kids. I've actually been working on my Heath Ledger laugh. And I need to get a pencil and a potato peeler. ..

I'm going to get a white wig, a pair of shades, and put on a black turtleneck. I'll wear a leather jacket over that and dark pants. I will comb the wig over a little bit. To top it off, I will walk around with a few cans of campbell's tomato soup and act paranoid the entire day. Points to anyone who can figure out who I'm being.

Oh for the love of Ghandi, not again.:smallsigh:

We really have no reason to celebrate it over here. the sun shines 'till nine o'clock, we have no cultural background with it other than from American TV shows, and yet, kids still seem hell-bent on taking my precious candies! Why? Why I ask you!

WHOOT!
If I can find the right clothes I'll go ahead and make myself a uniform from The French Foreign Legion.

The problem is finding the Kepi (the hat).
