Either that or a possible future is shown where Elan's son fights his evil counterpart.

666 is part of a prophecy like Oracles prophesies in OOTS. (Yes it could be 616 but that may also be a miscopy in an early manuscript, 666 was also memorable number used for Solomon's gold) Just because a scholar thinks Nero that doesn't mean that was intent, similar with us trying to interpret oracle in this strip.
