This is a discussion of who people think was a better triple threat. In case you're wondering, a triple threat is someone who can act, sing and dance noticeably very well.

There have been many over the years. I don't think anyone today can truly be compared to those of the past.

If you want to see some examples, just look at Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, Fred Astaire and there are many more than them.

It's my own personal opinion that Fred Astaire was overall the best. I found his dancing to be more graceful. As well, I enjoyed his singing and acting more, but that may just be because I liked his roles more too.

If you want you can divide your thoughts by gender. In which case, I loved Judy Garland.

I'm going to say neither of the above and plump for Ginger Rogers. Everything Fred did she did backwards, and in heels. :smallcool:

Perhaps I should change this topic to "Who was your favourite triple-threat?"

That would probably be a good idea... While the 'skill' is still around, that degree of class doesn't seem to exist as much now a days.

Hmmm...
Most likely Fred Astaire. This reminds me of a scene in Holiday Inn where Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire faced off.

I'll capture her heart singing... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zpYYBHs-fOc)

For women... Oh that's hard. There were a lot of stunning ones. I'll have to think on it.

Edit: Oh, favorite not best... I think Fred Astaire was more skilled overall as a 'triple threat' but Bing Crosby is my favorite.

John Harrington.

Soldier, Wit, and inventor of the flush toilet.

He narrowly beat Cyrano de Bergerac (Wit, Duelist, and Sci-Fi writer) and Richard Feynman (Atomic Physicist, Safecracker, and Bongo player. And artist. And professor. And lady's man)

Gene Kelly was the man. Charming, macho, crazy-talented, all buffed out, too.

Also made the best musical ever.

It's hard to believe that anyone who has seen their movies would say that. She certainly never did this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzdYsxfIJLQ) forwards or backwards in any sort of footwear.

And, as long as we're settled on "favorite" and not "best", I'll give my vote to Gene (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH2nQHPs4aA) Wilder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttAqyjbSujc).

"The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true!"

Hard to beat that with singing and dancing to boot!
