Youtube just added a feature that reads you your comment before you post it. This would be sorta cool, but xkcd prohpesized this exactly. I'm really scared. :smalleek:

An excellent question. I suggest that we form a research team for this. We're going to need to find someone who can fund us though :smalltongue:

Well, we aren't sure. I find it more likely that a bunch of people suggested it to them because of the XKCD strip, but it wasn't direct.

If you're talking about the audio thing, its not that good. It talks way too fast to understand and doesnt pronounce certain words like "am"

Well it was 5 strips ago, and presuming it's updated Monday Wednesday and Friday... and today is Wednesday..

I think it came out on the 26th?

Or it's just a crazy awesome coincidence.

Well, he's already commented on it in the blag. Looks like it was likely in response to his comic.

Also, apparently firefox recognizes 'blag' as a word.

Also, it apparently doesn't recognize firefox as one.

Normally, this is where I add a comment saying "Nah, that's not true, there's this other site that..." Etc. This time, however, I feel it is necessary for me to agree with this.

Oh, and I also saw the feature and thought "ZOMG, XKCD!!!!". I doubt it'll change anything, though.

For Firefox to recognize Firefox as a word, one must capitalize Firefox.

EDIT (to keep the thread from being further derailed):
@ Zeful, below: I didn't have to add Firefox to my dictionary for it to work.

Maybe someone saw the comic, and then decided to implement it. Kind of like Bradbury being hailed as prophetic, rather than just popular enough for someone to implement his ideas. Well that and he made up so much stuff that it was inevitable. Or vice versa, XKCD heard about the possibility.

Except that's only true if you add Firefox to the Firefox dictionary. I had to do it.

here's what they should have done instead:

if 50% or more of the words in your comment are misspelled, when you click 'submit' (or whatever it is on youtube, i never really use it), instead of posting the comment, it goes to a screen that says, "No. You know what? No. You're a god#%$^ idiot. I'm not posting that. *%$& you, jack&#@. Please go die in a fire," and then bans that IP from commenting.

What is xkcd? It is a way of life, an inevitable force. It can't be stopped, and shouldn't be stopped. It is all that is powerful. It can create and destroy. It can bring even the strongest to their knees.

Actually it's just a funny webecomic (http://xkcd.com/).
