So, I'm throwing together a character ([Lesser Gray] Dwarven Crusader) for one of those team labyrinth/gladiator games. We have a dwarven druid on our team with the shapeshifter variant, and the rest of us were thinking of taking a dip so we could play a pack of wolves roaming the passageways. We have 500gp to start out, so the +4 to Natural Armor and Str looks really good, but it doesn't give anything else (will it take any racial abilities away?).

Is this a terrible, terrible idea? I love the roleplay of it, but this is to be a low-roleplay game.

It's a bad call. You're dropping BAB, spellcasting, skills--whatever it is you'd be gaining in your normal class progression--for two ability enhancements. You can't use any shiny magic items you might pick up while shapeshifted. You'll soon find that the ability bonuses are outclassed by spell and item bonuses and that magic weapons are necessary to break through DR.

On the other hand, if the whole group is nerfing their characters, there won't be much of a power-imbalance in the group. This is usually the one reason not to nerf or overpower your character. Except the Druid. He's going to be on the normal super-powered level of play.
