I used to use this awesome program that was written in python, had a built in dice roller / battle map and people could send everyone else avatars or you could use the premade avatars. I realy wish I could remember the name of it.

The ones that come off the top of my head are Gametable (Pretty good, and good for simplistic portrayals of games where you do most of the work yourself) and Maptool (Might be a bit overwhelming for just starting out, but has a lot of tools and you impersonate the character's themselves when you put the pogs out.)

You're thinking about OpenRPG (http://www.openrpg.com/), I think. Python-based.

I think this is it thanks alot. I'll also check out maptools Glyde.
