In OOTS #469 how did Belkar avoid damage from the fireball?

Neither Belkar or Hayley understand how he did it. Unless he has a couple of levels in rogue that we don't know about (which would send the Class and Level Geekery thread into overdrive).

Suggestions please.

Rangers get Evasion.

Rangers do, in fact, get evasion. And at 9th level too.

The trick is... if you ask a not-dnd-genius what classes get evasion, they have a fair shot at forgetting the Ranger, due to his slightly high level (I think). Alternatively, Belkar sucks at dexterity related things, and is not used to succeeding at his reflex saves, so was surprised when, after rolling his save, that he took no damage.

Oh, so they do.

Thanks for the quick responses.

Also sorry for wasting thread space then.

It's not a waste of space. In fact, the only stupid question is the one that isn't asked (and the one where a pixie asks what gender V is, but...)

Ninja'd is when you are posting something, and after it's posted, you find out that someone else posted the same information.

Also, V is 2 Elves of exactly the same talent/build/ect, one a boy, one a girl, who switch out between panels.

The What, now?

Don't you mean "somebody's been reading and remembering posts and theories from awhile back"

Well, that and 1) the class isn't all that great and doesn't get huge amounts of high level play, 2) they didn't have it in earlier editions and 3) it seems a bit off with the warrior archtype they fit.

Also factotum, spoiler much?
