What are the limits of action while melded?

It's vague, but if you can still cast spells that suggests you can move and speak (would it be muffled but audible?). Is it just as though you're in a stone-shaped box? If I share this spell with an Animal Companion does he go into his own stone, do we have to fit inside the same stone, are we allowed to overlap? If someone else casts the spell can they come into my rock? Can we interact?

Are these all really up to interpretation or have these been answered somewhere? Right now my best answer for all this is the stone-shaped box. Thanks for any help.

I keep forgetting this spell even exists.
Same deal with Statue.

I've had to re-examine every spell available to my Druid.

The game I play in has a disturbing sliding scale for difficulty as the DM seems new and overcompensates by homebrewing a lot of things to throw at us. We're also incredibly low wealth, my Drd 5 having a Ring of Feather Fall and four 1st lvl potions, and the other three characters about as well off. Our Cleric and my spells are about the only thing carrying us through a pretty tough campaign.

P.S. Core Only, except for the DM :/
