View Full Version : Most ridiculous party

Hurgon Burgon!
2008-10-18, 09:55 PM
so one day a few friends and i decided to come up with a really crazy/stupid party of races that don't fit their class. We want to play as some of these characters one day:
Half-Orc Bard
Halfling Beguiler
Kobold Barbarian
Undead Cleric
Minotaur Dashing Swordsman
Dwarf sorcerer
So if anyone has any other crazy class/races, please let us know.

Medium Water Elemental, Pyrokineticist.

Magmin Druid. You love forests so much that you stay far away from them. Could work if you wanted to be a druid of volcanoes, but what fun would that be?

Awakened Tyrannosaurus Shadowdancer. High-level shadowdancer. I still have machinations to send it after my party.

Why not a halfling beguiler? That sounds well-matched, both crunch and fluff.

Dark anything cleric of Pelor
Whisper gnome bard
Cloud Giant Master of Many Forms
Ghost Barbarian
Will'O'Wisp Monk
Centaur Cavalier
Salamander Dread Pirate
Titan Cleric

Doppleganger Paladin

Barbarian Lich (the fun part would be trying to become a lich as a barbarian)

...
I've known people to play orcish bards, kobold barbarians and undead clerics.

and halfling beguilers are actually good matches cause of their dex bonus plus,
Beguilers are basically rogues with rogue-like magic, they match up perfectly, what would be ridiculous would be a halfling fighter.

Maybe not that specific, Ahem, but the idea of playing a familiar actually sounds intriguing from a role play point of view. Having either the DM as your master, or another player sounds like a lot of fun, especially if you were good at the off the cuff snide remarks.

I think the most ridiculous party idea that my group came up with worked like this:
1) Everyone is a fighter.
2) Everyone wears full plate.
3) Everyone is an Anthropomorphic Weasel with Swarmfighting.
4) Use the special attack Attach (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/weasel.htm) to completely weigh down enemies and bite them to death.

“Sometimes to defeat true evil, one must look into the abyss”

Part of my Order of the Rejects: a Party of PCs who either rejected or were rejected joining Roy in Origins. Only the Lumi is weird...well not fitting.

The party includes:
1) Golden-heart Eater, Lumi, Warlock 6/Hellfire Warlock
“Sometimes to defeat true evil, one must look into the abyss”

2) Leroy Jenkins (and his psicrystal/aka imaginary friend Mr. Fizzypop) Human, Psywarrior 8/Slayer 3
“Let’s ask Mr. Fizzypop, my imaginary friend.”

3) Johnny Appleseed, Gnome, Druid (Elemental Companion variant)
“Look I own air. Do you know how awesome that is?”

4) Rudger, Reth Dekala, No class (all HD)
“To free my people, I must kill my people… there is no other option. I am damned if I don‘t and condemned when I do. So be it: it is my duty.”

5) Grentel, Orc Barbarian (Berserker variant) 9/2 Rogue

{table=head]Your Pitiful Idea|Countered!
Half-Orc Bard|Skalds, for one, would be an excellent fit.
Halfling Beguiler|Um... why not?
Kobold Barbarian|*shrug* vicious primal kobold. Nothing surprising there.
Undead Cleric|Huecuva. But maybe that's not what you meant.
Minotaur Dashing Swordsman|Awesome. A Dragonlance Minotaur would love it.
Dwarf sorcerer|Dragonlance pulled some of these off as well
Aasimar Dread Necromancer|Ooh, fallen. I would use it.
Half-elf anything.|Smells like bias...
Dragon dragonslayer.|Aren't they all?
Awakened Iron Golem Ranger|See Eberron.
Solar Ninja|You win, if only because a Solar would never take such a bad class
Goblin Samurai|Oriental Adventures would have a few...
Minotaur Spirit Shaman|M:TG's minotaurs can, would and do
Catgirl Physicist|Don't do it. A catgirl with the LHC would be deadly.
Doppleganger Paladin|Dead useful.
Pixie Monk|Ever see Hook? Tinkerbell musta had a level or two in Monk.
Barbarian Lich|Verrry carefully.
Illithid Beholder Mage|That, sir, is cheating.
Wraith Paladin|At least nobody would ever ask for Lay on Hands

Enough for me.

Mummies are the basic "Undead Cleric", and do the job very well. Well, except for that LA. Try an Undead Paladin, although there are some god-spawned, good aligned undead around.

Agreed on Minotaur Shamans; Magic the Gathering has made that into a really neat idea.

Try an Illithid Barbarian for wierd. (Possible, but not with the standard race flavor.)

Warcraft(not world of warcraft) actually got to this one first, by ripping of a few native american cultures, a Shaman was inevitable.

I think he's thinking of the Tauren. They're basically minotaurs. If my lore is correct, the Tauren were one of the first races. Ever. They're up there with High Elves as the progenitor races of Azeroth. Granted, Draenor and the Naaru homelands have long had life, but I think Tauren were early in Azerothian history.

Tauren were also great Shamans, though they're better known for Druidic study under Cenarius.

Be that as it may, in 3.5 D&D a Minotaur would make a pretty lousy Spririt Shaman, with it's racial HD, LA and ability modifiers...

On second thought, let's say Minotaur Archivist, with their hit to INT.

I think the worst was a Star Wars d20 game I GM'd. It was... surreal. Like every player decided, independent of one another, that THEY were going to be the quirky character who stuck out.

Steve started by bringing a C3P0 in an assassin droid's frame complete with involuntary killing due to automated defenses. Tammy brought a Sith-turned-hippy to the table, being hunted by both the Jedi and her former Sith master. Speaking of Jedi, Diana brought a clinically depressed Jedi, zoned with drugs to keep her apathetic enough not to fall to the Dark side. Tyler and his girlfriend, ever a pair, brought a pair of smugglers to the table with a checkered past and a heap of marital problems.

Keep in mind, this was for a serious game. Individually, any of these characters would have had a lot of genuinely interesting RP opportunities. Taken altogether, we didn't get through the full session with a straight face.

Insane hyperviolent changeling duskblade with a penchant for random cosplay. Party leader by virtue of yelling loudest.
Perpetually sex-fixated cyborg Favored Soul/Callgirl from THE FUTURE! Also she is the daughter of the current pope.
Self-loathing confidence-less Warblade who copes with life by using the Unnerving Calm feat at all times.
Amnesiac mad scientist changeling artificer who is even more violently twitching than the other changeling.
Illegally built psychic warforged who's...actually pretty normal.
Pacifist warforged...something with a ton of backstory thus far unexplained.

Our rivals:

Char Aznable
Easygoing friendly yet incredibly creepy sneaky tiefling swordsage
Elven druid who's never encountered human society before with ridiculous boobs and a hyperspace mallet. And apparently her animal companion is a pedophile.
Insane hyperviolent suicidal? half-goblin half-incubus duskblade/repairman. Hits on the pope a lot.
Robocop.
Artificer guy who came in right as I was forced to stop reading this thread when I joined the other game.
Sorry if I forgot someone

And don't even get me started on the adventuring parties that happen in Sigil Prep. Just...that whole game wins this award.
