This is an idea that came to mind while I was trying to figure out the use behind the barbarian's Berserker Strength variant. It's really the first thing on to paper, so I haven't taken the time to balance it or tweak at all. I feel it could have been better; so I brought it here! Enjoy.

THE AUSFALL
Life is filled with little failures. You win some, you lose some. But sometimes, when someone loses one that they feel was important, it's hard to get over it. It can lead to obsession, and then to determination. There are those who have felt crushing failure, and they are determined beyond everything to never feel it again.

Prerequisites:
Skills: Any Skill 10 ranks
Special: Must have failed another individual in a circumstance you felt was of great importance

4 + Int mod Skill Points per level: All skills are class skills for the Ausfall

Failure’s Rage (Ex): To an Ausfall, failure is worse than death. When the Ausfall is reduced to (5 x Ausfall level) hit points, the Ausfall enters a state of unbridled, determined fury. An Ausfall in this rage is relentless beyond even the wildest barbarians.
The Ausfall gains several benefits upon entering a Failure’s Rage. He gains a +4 morale bonus to his Strength score, a +2 morale bonus on saves, and Temporary Hit Points equal to (5 x Ausfall level). In addition, the Ausfall gains a number of “Fury Points” equal to his class level + the Ausfall’s Charisma modifier. Fury Points can be spent on special abilities detailed below.
These benefits last until the Ausfall is knocked unconscious, killed, or has his hit points brought above 5 x the Ausfall’s class level.

At 6th level, the bonuses granted by the Failure’s Rage ability improve. The Ausfall gains immunity to fear effects. In addition, the Ausfall gains a +6 morale bonus to his Strength score, a +4 morale bonus on saving throws, and Damage reduction 3/-.

At 10th level, the Ausfall’s rage reaches its peak. He gains a +8 morale bonus to his Strength Score, a +6 morale bonus on saves, and Damage Reduction 6/- while enraged.

Guardian: At 1st level, an Ausfall can spend one Fury Point to protect an adjacent ally from weapon attack or target spells. The opponent’s attack roll must exceed the Ausfall’s AC instead of the target’s, and the Ausfall gains a +2 morale bonus to AC. If the opponent hits, the damage is split evenly between the target and the Ausfall (on odd-numbered damage rolls, the extra point is dealt to the Ausfall).

Avenger: At 2nd level, the Ausfall can smite a creature that has harmed him or one of his allies. The ausfall spends 1 fury point before rolling an attack against the creature. He gains a +4 bonus on the attack roll and deals an extra 3d6 points of damage.

Inexhaustible: At 3rd level, the Ausfall can spend 1 Fury point to remove the effects of fatigue or exhaustion from himself.

Inspiration: At 4th level, the Ausfall’s determination is inspiring to his allies. The Ausfall can spend 1 Fury Point as a free action. All allies with 60 feet of the Ausfall gain a +2 morale bonus on attack and damage rolls, a +1 morale bonus on saves, and Damage Reduction 2/-. These benefits last until the Ausfall is knocked unconscious or killed.
If the Ausfall is killed while Inspiration is in effect, all allies effected by the ability gain a bonus on attack rolls, damage rolls, and saving throws equal to the Ausfall’s class level. These bonuses last for 1 minute.

Hero: As of 7th level, death cannot keep the Ausfall down. If the Ausfall is reduced to -10 hit points or less, he may spend 1 Fury point as an immediate action to remain alive and conscious. Each additional round, the Ausfall may spend one addition Fury Point to remain alive and conscious. The may be healed normally while using this ability, but if he runs out of Fury points before being brought above -10 hit points, the Ausfall dies.

Savior: As of 9th level, the Ausfall can spur himself to greater action in times of need. If an ally is dropped to 0 hit points or less, the Ausfall can spend 4 Fury Points as an immediate action. The Ausfall gains a round of actions to use as he sees fit (that is, one full-round action, one standard action and a move action, two move actions, etc).

Relentless (Ex): An Ausfall never stops trying, determined to succeed at any cost. Choose a number of skills equal to 3 + the Ausfall’s Intelligence modifier. The Ausfall may take 10 on these skills, even when rushed or under stress. At 5th, 7th, and 9th levels, the Ausfall can choose one additional skill that he can take 10 on. The Ausfall does not need ranks in the chosen skill unless it cannot be used untrained.

Loyal Beyond Death (Ex): At 5th level, not even death itself can stop the Ausfall. An Ausfall reduced to -1 hit points or lower remains conscious can take actions normally (without losing hit points) until reaching -10 hit points, at which point the Ausfall dies.

Unstoppable (Ex): As of 8th level, nothing can stop a determined Ausfall. When the Ausfall takes 10 on a skill he chose with the Relentless class feature (see above), the Ausfall gains a +4 bonus on the check. In essence, the Ausfall can take 14 on checks with the chosen skills.

Ex-Paladin Ausfalls
Fallen paladins who do not become champions of evil often find themselves as Ausfalls. Paladins who have lost their class features and take levels in Ausfall gain additional benefits, depending on how many levels of paladin they had before the fall.

1-2 Levels: The Ausfall can fight unarmed without provoking attacks of opportunity and takes no penalty on attack rolls when attack with improvised weapons.
3-4 Levels: Morale bonuses granted by Ausfall class features are 2 points higher.
5-6 levels: The Ausfall gains the ability to Smite Evil as an Extraordinary ability. He adds his Charisma bonus to his attack rolls against evil creatures and deals additional damage equal to the Ausfall’s character level. This ability may be used a number of times per day equal to the Ausfall’s Wisdom bonus (minimum 1).

7-8 Levels: If an ally of the Ausfall is dealt damage, the Ausfall gains a bonus on damage rolls against the offending creature equal to the damage dealt.

9-10 Levels: If the Ausfall scores a critical hit against a creature that dealt damage to one or more of the Ausfall’s allies in the past turn, the creature must succeed on a Fortitude save (DC10 + the Ausfall’s class level + the Ausfall’s Charisma modifier) or die. This is not a death effect, but does not affect creatures that are immune to critical hits.

11+ Levels: If the Ausfall has 11 or more levels of paladin, the Ausfall can convert those levels into levels of Ausfall on a one-for-one basis.
