As a longtime starved Philadelphia fan (the Sixers in '83 being a distant memory), I must say, go Phillies!

As a Canadian who doesn't know any teams other than the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, is that good or bad?

I watched the last at bat on my way out of the Cheesecake Factory. Kinda anti-climatic...just like the whole series. Shoulda been Sox v. Dodgers. That would have been fun to watch.

This is a definite good thing.

Go Phils!

They're nice folks. As much as people razz the Cubs, the Phillies had fewer World Series championships despite beign around since the beginning of Major League Baseball. And Philadelphia hasn't had a championship team in any sport for quite a while.

Go Sox Go!

And yeah, the Phillies set a record last year. 10,000 career losses!

Im surprised that the Cubs aren't the ones with that record. What's that you say? A Chicagoan shouldn't be slamming the Cubs? Well I grew up on Boston, so I'm allowed to.

Damn noisy Philadelphians. Okay, so the Phillies won the World Series, that's great.

Now keep it down, I have class tomorrow. :smallannoyed:

Question: Why, if all teams are North American, and all but one team is Statesian, why, why, why is it called the world series?

because any team can join the MLB, but so far only the american teams have tried to. Or something like that.

The reason why the Phillies have 10,000 career losses is because they're one of the oldest franchises in sports.

Go Phillies! That was a really cool series, even though I wanted the Cubs to be there...

As a fan of "any team that plays against the Patriots", I have to admit, they're doing pretty well, after all. I still hope any other team will win, anyway.

Why the hate for the Patriots?

Why the hate for the Patriots?

Because I can root for my Seahawks when the beat the bloody hell out of the Pats (hopefully). The patriots are close to the top of my hate list, below the 49ers, Rams, Cardinals and Cowboys

Also, I wanted the Rays to win the series. Drat.

They've become the Yankees of football. The evil empire, if you will. Therefore, us root for the underdog types must hate them (Of course I don't really give a good gorram about football, so w/e).

I still like the BoSox even though they stopped being the underdog a long time ago. They just play good baseball.

Yes, I agree with that last point. (Not the first, I'm a Pats fan). But yeah, it really shows that they play a team-centered, defense-first style of play when they get BETTER by trading one of the best hitters in the game.

As much as people razz the Cubs, the Phillies had fewer World Series championships despite beign around since the beginning of Major League Baseball.

...This is the Cubs' 100th anniversary of forgetting how to play baseball in October, though. :smallamused: (Is lifelong Cardinals fan... and is quick to point out that Illinois != Chicago)

...Yay for you in Philadelphia, but I ignore the World Series if the Cards aren't there...
