Occasionally, my Nintendo Wii's disk drive glows blue when it's off. I have no clue why it does this, but it kinda creeps me out.

Does anyone know why?

Blue drive of life??:smallconfused:

When it's off I dunno, is it because it's on standby and the Wii uses blue lights and it's to indicate it is in fact still plugged in?

Is it Wi-Fi enabled? That light usually means it's processing data updates from Nintendo's Wi-Fi service.

It lives! It liiives!
*Thunderclap*

So, I think it's a vengeful elemental who've decided to ruin your wii by possesing it and cause certain elements of the wii to glow blue, just to creep you out. Sounds plausible, no?

On a more serious note, I don't have an idea.

I think it means that it is updating. Although, I'm really not sure. The lights are really complex. There is some page on Nintendo's site explaining all of them. :smallwink:

I'm pretty sure my Wii internet thingy isn't plugged in just right, so I don't think it's that.

Updating what? :smallconfused:

It means you have new messages.

It means you have new messages.

What the hell is that supposed to mean! A message from whom?!

It's just gaming reconds.

Apperently I've played Super Mario Galaxy for 2:21. Whatever the heck that means.

Other then that, nobody could send me a message. Could that be the problem?

2:21 means you've been playing it for 2 hours, 21 minutes

...............(duh)

It means:

You ar4e connected to the net.

You have a new message.

there are updates available for your wii.

messages are from anyone with a wii. or the play record.

Don't listen to those liars, they're all trying to freak you out with crazy "internet" and "message" shenannigans. It's the blue glow of radioactive materials. There is a small nuclear power generator in the Wii whose sole purpose is to hold back its massive power and keep it at a safe, last-generation level.

Totally wrong. It's communicating with the mothership, to decide the best way to kill you in your sleep. The only solution is to stop sleeping and wait for it at night.

No, no, no. You've got it all wrong.

The Wii's disk slot glows blue when orcs are nearby.

Mine must be broken then. It only glows after I've killed them all.

Ah, off-brand. That explains it.

Sorry, Incomplete Joke. Should have read:

Unfortunately, my computer had other ideas, and I experienced 'Total Joke Failure.'

I thought it was commonly known fact that the blue light meant that nintendo was democratic.

No, no, no, no. ALL of you have it wrong. Blue is the color of magic. Good-guy magic. Your Wii is looking out for you, man, projecting it's magical aura, trying to keep all those evil Xbox 360 stuffs away from you.

Nah, it just means that it's not evil.

Same difference, really.

The Woo?

Hmm... that could be a problem - mine are literally so close that they're almost touching.

On-Topic: I believe it's just telling you it's WiFi-connected or you have a message, as others said - I had to look up the answer to the same question when I first got my Wii.

FLY YOU FOOLS!!! THE APOCALYPSE IS NIGH-*gack* *thud* *what ever sound it makes when you get borgified* We are the Wii. Wii shall make you interact with our games. All your base are belong to us. LOL.

Insanity aside, If you been playing SMG, it will some times send you a message about Luigi gone missing. Otherwise, it's messages for updates or the Wii's email.
